I think some the primary concerns I had upon graduation was really what to do.
The question was: was there really an alternative to do what I wanted to do, which was documentary photography
and lead the photojournalist way of life.
I felt that right after graduation I needed a job
so I felt like I was rushed into making my first decision.
But after a while, I realised that there will be a certain ceiling and
suddenly things are not as exciting anymore.
And maybe that was where you know I felt like I should move on.
I guess the whole idea came about really during our final-year project.
We had a grant from the National Youth Achievement Award Council
to work on a project that led us travel throughout Southeast Asia.
The fact that you are able to go and speak to the people there
and get catch a glimpse into their way of life,
it's very real, very humbling and it grounds you.
That's what I really love about the job.
I guess during the period where you're about to leave school,
talking to your friends definitely helps to put things into perspective
but I think it nothing like internships to help you really ascertain what sort of work you're meant for.
Or whichever suits your personality.
Because you would only really understand it when you've gotten the experience
I think making the initiative to find out what other kind experiences you want to try at that point in time
and then proactively, actually going out to search for what you think
you might want to do or pursue is quite important.
By opening yourself up to all the different kinds of possibilities, you train yourself and you kind of know what you like or what you're good at.
Instead of trying to be too focused towards one skill or expertise.
If I had one piece of advice to give to people give to people, it will really be to travel.
The most precious lessons I learnt were really from my travels. Because travel humbles you.
It reminds you that there is so much out there.
These kinds of things really remind you of what you want and what you value in life.
It reminds you of the need to really take charge of your life
and make the best out of it.
