Fingerpicking Guitar Lesson With Three Note Chords
Hey there, Im Tomas Michaud. In the last lesson, I did a lesson about three note chords
and Ive got enough request that Im gonna do a lesson now on the fingerpicking pattern
that I did at the end of that lesson, seems that people really like that so lets go
ahead and do this.
So heres the basic pattern that were gonna do. Were gonna do that just on the D first,
heres one round. So start with you pinch the two strings together the open D and the
high note. Youre making D chords of course in the left hand then the thumb goes to the
third string so the movement so far is Im going pinch, third string with the thumb then
with my second finger heading the top string again so its (strumming) okay, I go back
to that base note which is the open D so its baa third string and then back to the
base note then the second string with the first finger and then the third string again
with the thumb so whats actually going on here with the thumb is that Ill
do it slow, watch. How did you slow? It helps me when I concentrate on the base notes, got
the finger going crazy there there.
Now lets do the three note chords. Im not gonna go through the whole lesson again.
You can go back to the lesson before this. Its D, C, D and then this is a G three note
chord and we will just go back down. Now while Im doing the fingerpicking the whole time,
Im just using the D base note. I call it a drone (2:48) go to the C and so on. Okay
so this is the whole pattern (strumming) and I feel this little lick here to make it more
interesting.
So, of course as usual Ive written that down in tabs and notes on the cheatsheet.
You can get that if youre on YouTube and get that by going over to my blog and I have
a little download link at the bottom of the blog page. Also, sign up for my mailing list.
Once a week, Ill send you an update on what lessons Im doing and usually I have
something new every week.
Thanks for joining me today. Ill see you later.
