(Image Source: Fox News) Apple fans are giddy with excitement as the
tech giant prepares to release a handful of new products at their event in San Jose — most
notably a smaller tablet that’s being called the iPad Mini. But CNN Money says this isn’t
what Steve Jobs would have done. “Steve Jobs once said he would never make
a smaller tablet. Saying that there are limits on how close you can place things on a touch
screen before they get in the way of each other. He said the 10-incher should be the
minimum size for a tablet.” The Guardian says the competition has changed
things. “Amazon's Kindle and Google's Nexus 7 have
grabbed a chunk of the lower end of the tablet market and proved demand for a pocket-sized
device exists, helping force Apple into a space it has avoided and at times derided
… ” 9to5 Mac thinks Apple will price the iPad
mini a little higher than expected. Their best guess is $329 in the U.S., but they say
it will still sell. “ … with 250,000 iPad-optimized apps,
large iTunes Music, TV Show, Podcast, and Movie collections, digital book reading and
purchasing through iBooks … the premium will likely be worth the money for a lot of
people this holiday season.” iPad Minis might also make a splash in the
education industry. Bloomberg expects apple to market the little tablet as a chic educational
tool. “Apple has long been a leader in education
… Yet as fiscal budget shortfalls crimp spending all the more, schools in growing
numbers are warming to the handheld devices as an alternative to more expensive laptops.”
Apple is also expected to release a 13-inch Macbook Pro with Retina display, a new Mac
Mini, and a new version of iBooks.
