Hey there, I'm Mitch Stone, your hair styling expert.
When the weather is wet and gloomy, don't give up
on great hair by hiding under a hat
or getting by with a messy ponytail.
I have some weather resistant tips that will help you
fight the frizz.
I'm going to show you a bunch of tips on if you're caught
in the rain, one of them, a great one and an easy one,
is to use a leave-in conditioner or a balm --
they have lots of curl-up balms.
It's real simple.
You just put a little on your hands, and just emulsify it
so it's evenly distributed throughout your hair, and then
just start on the tops where the frizz is, and you just kind of
run it through your hair, all over.
Just start with a dime size and work it through.
You just kind of scrunch it into your hair, and if you need
a little more, you play with it, depending on your hair,
and you'll see, it lets it be wavy and not frizzy.
Let the moisture be your friend and work for you,
instead of working against you.
The moisture actually will help the wave really nicely,
and if you have a balm or a leave-in conditioner,
it works together with that moisture and it's amazing.
You can see these nice little waves starting to come out,
and then you have no frizz but a sexy wave.
If it's hot and humid out, you want your hair off your neck,
off your body, you just can grab it all in your hands,
and just start twisting it.
It's a great way to keep the heat off your neck, and then
what you do is you just keep twisting and keep it tight.
You twist pretty tightly.
Don't worry about these ends, because the layers,
if you have layers, they're going to pop out.
It's fine.
Just keep twisting, and then once you get it all twisted,
you keep turning it, and turn it into a nice little bun.
I like these hairpins like this because
they really hold it well.
You just kind of clamp it any way you can, really.
I mean, you just kind of put them in at one angle,
and then direct them back the other way.
Another thing you can use is just any decorative clamp.
This really works well.
Just, they're all sizes -- choose one that works for you,
and you just can get it right in there.
And then you're done, it's quick and easy,
and it's actually setting right now.
So you've got that kind of look that's on all the runways and
the magazines now, where it's kind of a little bit straighter
here, and once we take this out, it's going to be a nice wave
down at the bottom.
It will be really pretty.
You want to fight the frizz?
Go back to the braid.
Don't forget it, it's a great look.
Get a little serum, and then just run it all through your
hair, and then I like to take a little hairspray as well.
It'll help set it, too, and just kind of give it a little spritz
all over, and then all you do is you just put your hair
in a nice, tight braid.
Remember to make it as tight as you can, because that will
really lock in the wave, and it helps take the frizz out
as well, if it's tight.
You just take a ponytail holder, any kind works.
Just wrap it up.
Just at the end, I like to use a little
last little bit of hairspray.
Okay, and then get on with your day and 30 minutes later,
you're going to have beautiful waves, you'll see.
Okay, so this has set for about a half an hour.
Let's take it down and see what it looks like.
The one good tip is just pull it out from the center,
and just don't pull it too hard at first.
And then you see, you've already got these
great little waves starting in here.
You can see in here, where the folds of the braid were,
it's almost like a nice little finger wave, you can kind of
really see it right in here.
It's kind of got a little hippie feel to it, it's great.
You just let it kind of fall and don't use your fingers too much.
Just kind of gently pick it up, and then again,
grab a little bit more serum...
and you just kind of scrunch it into the wave.
After you got the serum in there and you've got it down,
you can just set it in with the spray, and just kind of
scrunch it and let the spray dry.
And in a matter of moments, you've got a great,
sexy look here.
There you go.
Now that you have some tips for dealing with a rainy or humid
day, you never have to let the weather bring you down again.
Thanks so much for watching.
I'm Mitch Stone.
See you next time.
