Welcome to Lorraine Magazine,
a fitness dance, some tropical plants
and a spotlight on a young videomaker from Epinal
Christophe Thockler just directed a music video
for the composer and musician Ben Neill,
a consecration for him, who already won, in 2011,
the award of the best regional music video.
Everything comes from the way I look at the world.
Since childhood, I have been wandering with my headphones,
always listening to music.
Sometimes, when walking in the street,
I can stop and watch a cloud passing behind a streetlight,
or things like this.
I gave an interview about my work, somewhere on the internet,
and Ben Neill, a music composer I was fond of, saw this interview,
came to me and said he really liked my previous works.
The album is also dealing with the theme of the souvenir,
and I wanted to illustrate this theme with ice.
To my mind, ice is illustrating time
and the souvenir is illustrated by all the small objects
trapped in the ice.
It took me two months to do this video:
one month of shooting, to take the 36 000 photos,
and one month to do the whole post production,
changing the colors, adding some effects, these kind of things.
Speaking of colorimetry, I really managed
to make something more homogeneous than my previous works,
it's perhaps the result of all the things I've done before,
I think this music video have something,
a little thing perhaps the others don't have.
Many of my music video were exhibited in museums and events,
and I think that this is really a great present for me
to see a music video… in a museum.
At first, a music video is a promotional tool
and it becomes something other than that
from the viewers and the art commissioners point of views
it really becomes a piece of art.
