Welcome to the rushden transport museum.
The rushden transport museum is situated in
-the old midland railway station of 1894
-which once formed part of the wellingborough to higham ferrers branch line.
Taken over by the rushden historical
-transport society in nineteen eighty four,
-the station also provides the society with a social club.
While outside can be found a variety of railway rolling stock, and road transport vehicles.
Rushden historical transport society was formed in 1976 when its founder mr richard woodcock,
-decided to place an advert in the local press with the intention of attracting
people interested
in transport,
to a meeting to be held at the rose and crown public house
-in rushden high street.
Today,"R.H.T.S"owns and runs rushden transport museum,
-and has over 650 members and organizes one of the biggest transport rallies and county shows-
-in the area
-attracting over twenty five thousand people
to rushden during the annual three day event.
Rushden station was built by the midland railway in eighteen ninety four,
and rushden station was the only intermediate station on the higham ferrers branch line,
-and closed to passengers on the thirteenth of june nineteen fifty-nine-
when regular passenger services were withdrawn by british rail.

Rushdens railway bridge at the bottom of station approach was demolished
in nineteen seventy three.
Rumour has it the bridge was so low
that one of the local bus companys had to lower the tyre pressures on its double decker buses to pass under.

Ditchford is in the middle of nowhere,it is a boundry of three parishes,-
irthlingborough
irchester and rushden
There is a very pleasing to look at ancient bridge over the river nene
Here's a narrowboat passing serenely by in the river nene valley.
An act of parliament decree that wherever
there should be a station erected
and so ditchford station was built in
1845.
Ditchford was an early closure-
losing its passenger service on the first of november 1924,
after closure to passengers the station remained open for freight until the 15th of may
nineteen fifty
and was also used for railwaymen and their families until at least june 1952.
