Hi, I'm Linda Woolridge, I'm a home school mom. You know at the end of the year, two
things happen. I start looking towards next year but I'm also really happy to say good-bye
to this year and that includes the text books from the year. So what do you do with those
old text books? If you feel really magnanimous you can give them to a friend, let them borrow
them for a year and then worry about it. But most people want to sell the text books from
last year so that they can buy the text books for the next year. There's lots of different
ways to do that. If you are lucky enough to live in an area where you have a support group,
encourage them to have a used book sale. Our support group does. All the moms bring in
their books, already priced, we set them down on tables. At the end of the day we pick up
the books of ours that are left and our support group issues us a check for the dollar amount
of what sold. Some support groups will do them like garage sales. You rent a table,
you bring your own curriculum and you sell your own things. That works too. You could
always sell your books at a yard sale or you can use Ebay or some other form of online
service. There are also specific boards for selling home school materials to other home
school parents. Any of those options will work, it depends on what works for you. Incidently
on Ebay, some curriculum are more popular than others and tend to sell very quickly
and at a very good price. Other curriculum, well, you may have just spent your listing
fee and not sell the curriculum. So make sure you research how books are selling online
before you lay your money down to list those books. Also make sure that you list your books
as teacher manuals or solution keys, as most teachers don't like to see the answers sold
online. In any event, however you choose to sell your curriculum, get your materials together
and get ready for another great home school year. I'm Linda Woolridge, have a great home
schooling day.
