Hi, I'm Mike Regan with TranzAct's two-minute warning for the week of December 16th. Who
would have thought that we'd already be coming to the close of yet another year. Now this
has been an interesting year in transportation with lots of different things happening
and we've tried to address many of these issues in our two-minue warning. As we close out
the year, we want to talk about a couple of things that should really be on your radar
screen if you have responsiblity for managing your company's transportation and logistic
spend. The first thing we want to talk about are the changes that are occuring in the industry.
Now one of the reasons we bring this up is because we've gotten some calls from people
who've asked us if we can give them an update or ask for our thoughts and opinions
about what's going on with YRC. If you've been reading the press then you'll know that
YRC and the union's come together to hammer out a new contract and that contract will
be voted on by the union membership. Now there's understandably some concerns because of the
economic issues going on with respect to YRC and we have no idea how the vote will turn
out but we want to remind everybody YRC and the
unions over the past couple of years have had a very commendable track record of coming
together for common sense solutions that allow them to keep their doors open in serving customers,
So we have confidence in James Welter and his team, that they will continue
to work with the unions to come up with another practical solution. Now the other thing we
want to point out is a presentation that we set in last week. If you listen to
our two-minute warning from a couple of weeks ago, Mary Phillips and her team over at the
American Trucking Association, did a great job of having a webinar that talked about
the legislative in regulatory challenges confronting the trucking industry. Well last
week, Bob Costello from the American Trucking Association, gave the ATA's economic
update on things that are affecting the transportation industry. Now obviously, we don't have a lot
of time to go into that here, here's what we'd like to have you do. If you'd
like a copy of this presentation, we want you to send me an email and I'll be happy
to work with the ATA to get you a copy of this. It has a wealth of information and if
you have responisibility for budgeting your company's transportation and logistics expenditures,
this is really a must-have report. Now with each and every two-minute warning,
we're here to remind you we are on your team, we're here to help, but more importantly,
we're passionate about working together with you to ensure your success. If you have some
comments or questions, or want to know how TranzAct's tools can help you be successful,
give us a call today. Thanks for your time.
