Hi! On behalf of expertvillage.com, I’m Jean Hurley from Siegels Day Spa in Cottonwood,
Arizona and we are talking about cranial-sacral release therapy today. I like to sit on an
exercise ball and that helps give us fluid of movement. Some of the holds that we do
can hold for a 10 minute period, so you want to be comfortable yourself as a therapist.
The first hold we do is call osipidal cranial release. Hold and simply without using the
thumbs, you want to come to an osipidal ridge with the forefingers and you are going to
lift the client’s head without using your thumbs and you are simply creating a pressure
point at the osipidal ridge and there we are. You simply find the rhythm. The rhythm to
me feels like a J-movement. You kind of get sucked into a J. The rhythm moves 6 to 8 times
per minute and it simply feeling the rhythm of the spinal fluid into the cranium and feeling
the relax happen at osipidal ridge. The client is usually laying still and quiet. He can,
at any time, tell us if he does feel pain at a certain point of pressure.
