Hi, it’s Steve from PartSelect. Today we’re going to show you how to change the light
switch kit on your refrigerator. It’s a really easy job; all you’ll need is a putty
knife, and a small flat-blade screwdriver. Let me show you how we do it.
Now to do this repair, we’ll first of all begin with removing the power supply to the
refrigerator; simply pull the plug as we will be working near some electrical circuits.
We’ll open up the bottom door, then with a putty knife that I’ve put a little bit
of duct tape on it to protect the surface of the fridge, we’ll slide that in from
the right-hand side of that switch, just under the top lip of it, push it in fairly snug,
and pry down on that switch, then pull it down.
We just need to remove that connector from the switch; it should pop right off. If it
doesn’t come off easily just use your flat-blade screwdriver and go in and pry that connector
off.
We’ll discard the old switch.
Now if the harness connector does not match the light switch, you may need to follow the
instructions that come with that kit, that basically suggest that you should split that
connector and turn one wire 180 degrees.
Once we’ve got that firmly seated on the switch, push it back up through the opening,
snap it firmly into place, now we’re ready to reconnect the power, and our repair is
complete.
Told you it was an easy job. Thanks for watching, and good luck with your repair.
