As I’m finishing university soon, I was thinking I need to start thinking
what are my options.
Do I want to do an internship, do I want to do a PGCE,
or do I want to just go straight into a job?
I’m looking for a job right now, so it’s a great opportunity
to come here and see a lot of exhibitors here.
The North East has been chosen as our Regional Delivery Centre,
for application management and application development.
So, we need a pipeline of staff. So we’re reaching out to
local education establishments and universities.
I think experience is quite important,
so even if a student has made some application
or made some actual development in software
we would look at that student as an experienced person.
Obviously, we’re looking for good academics.
But we’re also looking for vocational qualifications
that they may have.
Any kind of groups that they may be a part of.
Just something that shows that they’re team orientated,
but also have the determination
to work on their own and succeed as well.
The best thing to do, I would say for students who
are just starting is, if at all possible take a year out
and do a placement with a company.
Because, not only is it experience to put on your CV,
it’s also going to help you get a job, because
with our placements, eighty-per cent of them
we take back as graduates after the final year.
First impression, I think are the most important thing.
Coming to these fairs you get meet members of the
teams already in it. If they remember who you are,
you’ve give a good impression to them.
I would recommend everyone to come here.
It’s very helpful and everyone’s really friendly.
It’s useful and I took some contacts.
I gave my email already so it’s really nice.
