Welcome to the ITS channel. You're about to learn about using headers and footers in
Microsoft Word.
We'll create a blank document and add some headers and footers to provide some
clarity and consistency throughout our document.
It's always really important to save your work first
and often throughout the time you spend working on your document.
Navigate to the insert tab and click Header.
You'll notice that a drop down will appear with a series of header styles to choose from.
We'll just go with a basic one for now. In the top corner we'll
type in the name of the document and the date underneath. This of course will vary
depending on your document, this just serves as an example.
Now navigate over to Footer. Again you'll notice a matching series of footers will
be displayed in the drop down
and we'll select one that matches. This brings you to the bottom of the page.
At the left side to the footer we'll type in the version. You can also format your
footer to have page numbers.
You'll notice a green design tab has appeared at the top.
You can actually change the amount of space the footer or header takes up using the upwards
or downwards
arrows to adjust the size. Once you click out of the header and footer design
area, the text you typed into them
will display, but in a faded shade of grey, as this does not serve to take
away from the actual content.
And if you want to change the content of
your header or footer, just double click on it and adjust as necessary.
Again it's important to remember to save your work often throughout the document.
Thanks for tuning in to the ITS channel!
