Hello and welcome back to the osu!academy!
Today we'll be going over standard gameplay and how to customize playstyles settings.
Now that you have game installed and you are ready to play you're probably wondering how do you play it?
Well, gameplay is simple. Your objective of the game is to tap circles and slide sliders, spin spinners on time with the beat.
For more information, be sure to check that tutorial that we showed you.
The main goal is to play along to the beat in order to survive the entire length of the song.
Playing osu! only requires controled accurate cursor movement
everyone has a mouse to play with,
but some people use tablets
and other people even have tablet PCs
Playing osu! Play styles
You may be a bit confused at this point, so let me go into a little bit more detail.
Mouse is the original input type for osu!
It pretty much speaks for itself, you use the mouse to control your cursor
and when the cursor reaches a hit circle
you can either click the mouse buttons to press it
or use certains keys that are bound on your keyboard for clicking.
Some players may feel more comfortable with different mouse speeds
and they're used to elsewhere on their computer
so you can set mouse sensitivity in the options screen.
We'll look at that just in the moment after we go over tablets.
What is that tablet you might ask?
A graphic tablet, or generally just called the tablet by the osu! community
is a tool that lets you use a pen to draw digital art.
The main advantage of having a tablet in osu!
is its absolute positioning
which means that holding the pen in one place
will bring the cursor to the exact same spot everytime
increasing your aiming precision.
Of course tablets do cost money and they are not very cheap to replace
so you may not want to pick one just for osu!
but of course, the best way to get a feel for different input types
is to experiment and try them out!
Playing osu! Frame limiter and adjustments in some cases, things might not feel right
you may feel some input lag or the game might be just choppy overall
if this problems sound like which you are going through,
you might be do adjust some settings.
You can reach the settings by clicking at the options in the main menu.
From there, you can adjust almost everything osu! related.
From fancy graphic shader to adjusting your keybinds,
to even changing osu!'s look by with the custom skin.
In most cases, the default settings should work fine,
but if you feel you need to adjust them
this is where it could be done.
The one notable exception, is the frames per second limiter
which can be toggled anywhere in osu! by pressing F7.
Well, changing your frame limiter can yield amazing results
I suggest leaving it on default unless you get noticeably better gameplay from a different settings
Keep in mind that older machines
may need some graphical settings disabled for optimal performance.
Shader effects should be disabled by default,
but if for one way or another its been turned on,
just go ahead and turn it off.
Now that you have been given a roundown on the different types of input
which will you use?
Feel free to try all the input types
there are plenty of other input devices not mentioned here;
pretty much anything that can be used to manipulate the mouse cursor
can be used to play osu!
You can even try playing it with the gamepad joystick
if you want a real challenge, or perhaps
try a wiimote.
When starting the game, you obviously want to pick
easier difficulties first.
You can tell what the song and difficulty will be more of a challenge
by looking at the difficulty names as well as the difficulty rating stars.
Don't forget - you're never alone!
You can always feel free to take part in cool multiplayer action against friends
and strangers alike,
but we will go over that in more detail in later episode.
That's all from us today! We hope to see you real soon!
