(Giada De Laurentiis) So, you guys,
we're gonna make some Nutella biscotti today.
Do you guys know what those are?
Do you know what biscotti are?
All right, they're Italian cookies.
They're basically cookies in Italian,
that's what it means.
(boy) Yeah, cookies.
(Giada) Right? Okay.
So that's what we're gonna make.
You guys ever made cookies before?
Yes?
So these have chocolate in them, they're my favorite.
Lucy, we're gonna measure out some flour.
You wanna go ahead and measure out flour?
Take 1 cup, take this.
There you go.
And now we're gonna level it off,
you can use your fingers just to make sure
it's exactly 1 cup.
Do you wanna it in here?
Here, we'll put it in there.
There's 1 cup.
Now, can you fill this little baby cup?
This is more your size.
There you go.
Go ahead and level it off with your fingers.
Nice.
So the flour creates the shape of the cookie, okay?
So now you wanna put it inside, very good.
How about you add 1/2 a teaspoon of baking powder.
So now, you're gonna add baking soda .
♪
(whispering) Oh, you're so good, Lucy, you're so good!
Now, Lucy, you're also gonna add 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
Now do you think that's kind of weird,
to add salt to the cookies?
(boy) Yeah.
(Giada) Yeah.
Now level it off.
Well, the salt brings out the flavor.
♪
You are gonna drop a stick of butter in here.
Go ahead, it comes off.
Okay, now, let's add some sugar.
1/2 a cup, there's your cup measure, there.
Just like that, there you go.
And then use your fingers to help you.
Do you like sugar?
Here, let's just do that, there we go.
Now, you're gonna add it into the bowl.
There you go, perfect!
Now we're gonna add some brown sugar.
You wanna add the brown sugar?
Do the same thing that you did with the white sugar,
just push the cup into the bowl.
Now, we're also gonna add 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
♪
And then we'll cream those things together.
Before we add the egg and the nutella.
Let's turn this one on.
Okay, there we go.
Let's do a little higher, but not too high, okay,
because we don't wanna be covered in butter and sugar.
Crack the egg.
There you go...
I just wanted to catch all the shells.
All right, now put that back in there again.
There we go.
Now, go ahead and mix it again, there we go.
We're gonna put almost this whole thing of nutella in here,
we're gonna use 1/2 a cup.
It's about 3/4 of this jar.
All right, now we're gonna turn that machine back on.
All right, so why don't you do this,
why don't you drop some flour in here then for me?
(Lucy) Can I do it?
(Giada) Yeah, you can do it, too.
Charlie's gonna do the first batch.
And just drop a little bit in there,
don't drop the whole thing, just a little bit.
Okay, that's good.
Lucy, grab the bowl.
Can you grab it?
There you go, aaah.
Lucy, do a little bit, and then,
you're gonna do the rest.
Okay.
Now, Charlie, you grab it.
[laughs] Got it?
♪
There we go, thank you, Charlie.
All right, let's put that over there.
Now I've got one more thing to add.
We're gonna add some toasted hazelnuts.
Do you guys wanna taste them?
See they're crunchy, right?
So I'm just gonna chill the dough
for a little bit in the refrigerator.
Take your little spoon, your little measuring spoon,
both of you and I'll take one, too.
Scoop into the dough, there we go, just like that.
Okay.
Now, put three across on the top.
There we go, Lucy.
Now, the reason I'm using this, um, measuring spoon
to make the cookies is that way they're all
the same size and they all cook evenly
in the same amount of time.
All right, let's do that again.
There we go.
Spoon full, there you go, there you are.
Now, no-no, we wanna leave some room
in between the cookies because the cookies are going to cook
and they're going to spread out.
Got it?
All right, we're done with that one.
Perfect, Lucy.
Good, good, good.
I like that.
Now, grab a fork.
Charlie, Lucy, grab a fork, and this is what you do.
All right, I'm gonna do the middle one,
you do this one and you do that one.
Press it down, push it down with the fork.
Do you remember with peanut butter cookies,
you kind of make a little cross on them?
Yeah, there you do.
And now go the other way.
This way.
That way, there you go!
Now, we're gonna pop 'em in a 375 degree oven
for 10 to 12 minutes and then we're gonna eat them!
♪
They bake for about 10 minutes, and see,
they look like little peanut butter cookies.
