One of the key skills we're looking for in journalism graduates that we hire is the ability
to work across all forms of media. They have to be able to work with social media, with
the mobility solutions, also the requirements of online publications, as well as print.
Print is still an important part of communication, and they need to understand the key values
of print journalism. One of the key things, we think - that we're doing at CentraMart
is, we create a central marketplace for commerce and information - is to find journalism graduates
who can understand the three core values of journalism. Number one is you must be a trusted
source of local information. Number two, you must be a guardian of the public interest.
And three, your newspaper or your medium must provide an opportunity for public discourse.
So, you want to be part of the community. If you're going to build a community, you
have to react to the community.
