The Deneufbourg estate is a vineyard located a few miles to the south of Perpignan.
It's a small family estate that at the beginning focused primarily on grape growing and not winemaking.
We are the first generation to have decided to transform our production and make our own wines, with our first vintage in 2009.
2013 marks the completion of ours vineyard's conversion to organic farming with the first certified organic harvest.
The Deneufbourg estate has a configuration and soils types that make it possible to farm organically,
without a lot of of difficulties.
The ground is easy to plow.
The blocks are sufficiently large to use the mechanical techniques and enable us to maintain reasonable production costs.
In more extreme conditions, costs rise considerably without any improvement in quality
An important advantage is that we are located in a zone where the weather is extremely favorable for organic farming,
with a windy and dry climate.
We therefore have very little parasitic fungi developing naturally.
The other advantage of organic agriculture has to do with society.
Because we don't use certain products,
we require 2 or 3 times more labor than conventional methods
There are still many things planned for the future,
with the likely construction of a new wine cellar on site overlooking the lake
The principal qualities of these red wines for me are freshness and fruitiness,
and that they preserve their flavors
Recently, I opened one of the first bottles of Marselan
which are already about 3 years old.
A fantastic freshness !
Concerning our business strategy, we have chosen to privilege exports
by taking initiatives on a European level as well as overseas, Canada and the USA
Participating in professional meetings enabled us to find importers, our first based in Belgium and now in the USA, in Colorado and New York.
The B2B events that we participate in recently led us to Chicago,
where we had the opportunity to meet with American, Canadian an South-American importers.
For us it was important to go to Chicago,
because we had already met American importers in Europe,
who came here looking for French winemakers.
It was therefore important for us to be in Chicago in order to meet with them again,
and demonstrate our desire to build business relations in the USA.
We believe that every wine lover would appreciate our wines.
This is why we have made the effort to bring our wines closer to them.
