Well the idea is that its an exhibition piece, it had always
been thought as a piece to be in a museum
it is a one off, you firstly gonna go
to a show and see 4 dresses entirely white
highly embellished, with hand beading and
handcutting and
later on the dresses will eventually
change and will never be the same, which is what the whole project
is really about
I was having this discussion with a few people over the summer
um it was sort of a talk about Frida Kahlo's work
and how i particularly didnt like it and so many reasons why
not fond of her, it was between that time
it was quite indecisive and i was just sort of put it aside, but then...
eventually a couple of weeks before we started the second semester that
um something happened in my particular
um in my personal life which
I had a psychosis
episode, i never seen
nothing has ever been quite the same
they say that phycosis episodes
can be highly linked to
moments of a lot of creativity
a few people if your creative already, it sparks something in your head
makes you be
like hyper creative. So it was during
that particular moment that I just suddenly, it was just there like..
I didn't think about it, I didn't control it, i just said
this is what I have to do
I have to make this project and I'm, and I want
dresses that ink themselves, and all of a sudden all of the things just start clicking
in you know, the aspect of white dress, why they were white
why are they highly embellished why are they carved, well that's where the perforations
come from that's why the dresses are sort of
all have having holes that crawl up in then that is like a cancer that spreads
that you dont control it
I was just making them visually really
and it helped me through it
through solving, well i don't know i obviously haven't probably sort my life out yet
but
but I make something out of it, at this point i'm not to
sure how I feel because I guess its
nearly reaching its endpoint
and I don't know whats gonna happen after, you know
after that
there were several moments that were more exciting than others, you know
the day that I, that after spending two and a half weeks trying to contain
Ink in a bag, it might seem really stupid
but it took two and a half weeks of testing
and being every day in this workshop using this really expensive equipment to
you know and i was getting really frustrated and i had a deadline.
