Hi. I’m Sally Decker and Saginaw Valley State University is very pleased to announce
our Doctor of Nursing Practice – Family Nurse Practitioner program.
As part of the kickoff for that program we are offering a conference on June 18. The
brochure for that conference can be found on the website.
The conference features rural health nursing as well as an overview of the DNP.
The morning conference will feature Dr. Angeline Bushy and she is a well-known expert on rural
nursing, having written several articles and books on the topic. She will be joined by
a panel of local experts including Lori Whiteman, who is a DNP at Mercy Hospital in Grayling;
Diane Conrad, who is a DNP-FNP in rural northern Michigan and is a Board Certified Diabetic
Management expert; as well as Mary Linden, who is a DNP and neonatal NP at Alpena Community
College. The afternoon of the conference, which is
the DNP overview, will feature Julie Waldrop. She is one of the first graduates of Duke’s
DNP program and she has been a Nurse Practitioner for over 21 years. She is able to tell you
about the difference in her practice as a result of the DNP experience. She will also
be joined by this same group of experts who will tell you about their DNP experience in
Michigan. Following the conference there will be an
open house and you will be able to see this beautiful building if you haven’t been able
to see it already. You will also be able to talk with SVSU faculty
members about the program and you will be able to interview for the DNP program as well.
We hope you’ll be able to join us on June 18.
