Hi, I'm Rachel Parker and I'm running for re-election as UHISA President. I'm running,
because, on top of the things we've achieved this year, there is still a lot we can do,
to make UHI a better university for students.
I have the experience and track record to continue being your President. This year I've
secured a student rep on the student residences project board, delivered the first student
partnership agreement in Scotland and played a pivotal role in ensuring we have a new Principal
that will put students at the heart of all decisions this university makes.
We know, by talking to students, that assessment feedback is a continuing issue. If re-elected,
I will ensure UHISA launches a campaign that will allow students to set the agenda on assessment
feedback based on our needs and what will work for us. I will also work with students
to ensure UHI is improving VC delivery.
Being at university isn't just about classes and coursework. If re-elected, I will see
that the UHI online events calendar is developed to promote the events students want to see.
I will also continue work on the new UHISA website. This will allow societies to personalise their online presence
and for students to receive emails relevant to them, improving
how we communicate with you.
There are many great opportunities for students to greatly enhance their university experience and job
prospects by participating in international exchange. If re-elected, I will ensure UHISA
not only launches a campaign to promote international exchange but also to ensure international
students are made more welcome and better supported at UHI.
We are at a pivotal time for our country. It is vital that students are prepared to
vote in the European elections and the Independence referendum. If re-elected, I will ensure that
UHISA is doing everything it can to assist students find the information they need to
make an informed decision, and to support voter registration.
Student reps have a vital role across the university, however it is obvious that they
don't have the support they need. This year, I developed an online peer support network
for student reps. If re-elected, I shall continue to develop new ways to assist reps in their
roles. Whether, a class rep, a course rep, or a students' association officer if you
re-elect me, I will ensure you will get the support you need.
Now, I couldn't explain everything I wish to do for students in such a short video,
so check out my manifesto on the UHISA website, and follow my campaign on Facebook.
And remember, between the 17th and the 21st of March vote Rachel Parker for UHISA President.
Thankyou for watching my video.
