Hi there. My name is Baldi, for obvious reasons but I spell it with an I because I'm from
California. I'm now on the I phone. After you download the app, get right to the sandbox
and change how I look and talk, and celebrate spoken language rather than just text.
Press Play to have me talk to you or your friends.
You can move me around when I am talking.
And get some fun views of me.
You can make me bigger or smaller.
Look, I'm big.
Look, I'm small.
Double tap to see the text.
It shows what I'm saying.
Double tap again to see me talking.
To change my speech, touch the Settings button.
You can change the audio volume, the speaking rate, show Baldi in a standard Outside View
or an Inside View that shows the tongue and inside the mouth.
The inside view is valuable for language learning.
You can change my emotions by varying the sliders for six basic emotions.
I look Angry.
I look Disgusted.
I look Afraid.
I look Happy.
I look Sad.
I look Surprised.
You can change several at the same time to give a mixture of different emotions.
Here is a mixture of fear and surprised.
-It is possible show visual cues to help people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
There are two sets of cues: Cues on Baldi's face: red nostrils indicate Nasal sounds like
m or n; clouds of dots coming out of the mouth to indicate Frication sounds like s and sh;
and circles to indicate Voicing sounds like the sounds of d and v.
The round disk cues on the side of Baldi's head signal the same Nasal, Frication and
Voicing information by lighting up red, white, and blue, respectively.
You can also have both sets of cues on at the same time.
So have a good time with Baldi, and please let us know your thoughts.
