>> Predefined filters provide you with a flexible way of defining what data is included in your
reports, and how it appears. You can use them to customize your reports
so the data you deem useful is highlighted in interesting ways.
Filters can also help you clean up your data so that it's easier to read.
Let's say you want to view data of all users except for those from your company's internal
IP address. To do this, you can create a filter to exclude
all traffic from this IP address. Before creating any filters, you should always
make sure to keep a profile that has no filters applied.
This way, if your filters don't function as planned or you need more data than you originally
thought, you can always go back to this original profile.
Since we have an unfiltered profile here, we can create a new filter in a different
profile. To begin, click on the 'filter manager' link.
Then, select 'add filter'. First, we will name our filter, and then,
select our filter type. We will select 'exclude', 'traffic from the
IP addresses', and 'that are equal to'. We will then enter in our IP address.
From the available website profiles list, select the profile to which this filter will
be applied. Click 'add', and you can see that the selected
profile has been moved to the selected website profiles list.
Click 'save changes' to save your new filter. For more information, please visit Google.com/Analytics.
