I think Rio is able to combine music,
friendly and receptive people with Nature and with a strong urban life.
I think that this combination is
what makes it a city different from the rest of the world.
No doubt, Ipanema is a beach that dictates fashion.
On the sands of Rio sports such as beach tennis, footvolley
and beach volleyball emerged.
The new fever in Rio is surely the Altinha
It's a circle where everybody keeps the ball in the air.
The fundamentals of the "Altinha" are the foot,
thigh
shoulder
and head
In the past, the Altinha was more the basic game of not letting the ball fall.
Nowadays, there is attack and defense going on all the time in the circle.
It becomes more agile, it becomes dynamic, and sociable.
I don't see it as a competition, but more as a festivity,
a meeting with friends to
celebrate the sport that is in fashion here in Rio de Janeiro.
The idea of having women participate was amazing.
A year ago you didn't see many women playing.
Nowadays, you see many women. Every "Altinha" circle will have a girl playing.
And they are playing at a level as good as the men and that
is what caught attention.
The girls have an unbelievable amount of potential.
I think that we will be able to hold a championship
only with girls.
We will judge the skills, the control of each group and especially the
harmony of the group as a whole. It is 6 minutes
of exhibition. In 6 minutes one team goes in, forms its circle,
shows the girls' skills, another goes in and the judges give the score.
I never thought there would be an event of this kind just for women.
I feel happy; the women are dominating a sport that usually just belonged to the men.
Only beautiful women are on the sands of Rio de Janeiro.
The public loves it.
It started in Ipanema and is already spreading around the world.
