A Phoenix film maker was arrested after filming his 16 year old nephew dressed in a sheet
carrying a fake grenade launcher.
Michael Turley said he staged the fake terrorist incident after the Colorado movie theater
shooting to see how quickly police would respond. Then, he posted the video on YouTube.
The video almost has 24,000 views. NBC’s Today Show reports, the terror stunt was taken
seriously:
“Police say they were bombarded with 911 calls and they responded immediately. Although,
a counter on the video claims it took more than 15 minutes for officials to approach
them. “
And CNN reports,“Cops did come and just took names, but when Turley posted the video
on YouTube, he was arrested earlier this week and charged with creating a false impression
of a terrorist act. Seems like an awful idea, frankly.”
Turley was arrested Monday, nearly two months after the film was posted to YouTube. He posted
$5,000 bond and was released
