Hi everyone! Today I'm going to show you how I added some catchy words to these beanies.
This is what you need: First of all you need some beanies, obviously.
For the method I used, you need some iron-on letters. I got mine from a Dutch company,
called strijkletters.nl, the link is in the desciption below. If you're not from the Netherlands,
I recommend you to search online or in your local craftstore. Some sissors, this is optional.
A seam ripper, this is optional as well. Last but not least you need an iron, an ironing
board and a heat resistant piece of fabric. Make sure to use cotton because synthetic
materials will burn and that's not what you want.
Three of my beanies had a label on the front. EXACTLY where I wanted my letters so I decided
to start with removing this label. I used a seam ripper, but if you don't own one you
can use some scissors as well.
Next, take your beanie and place the word
on the front. Maybe the letters you use are different, but mine had to be placed straight
up so you can read it. Just follow the instructions of your letters. Add your heat resistant piece
of fabric to protect the letters and the plastic sheet. NEVER iron your letters without something
in between. Push a little, of course not too hard, and after 20 seconds you can try to
remove the sheet.
If you choose to add the letters while the
beanie is unfolded, make sure the beanie is inside out and that you place the letters
the right way. If the beanie is unfolded, you have to place the letters upside down
so they will be straight up in the end and the other way around. When the beanie is folded
it is easy: when you place the letters straight up, they will be straight up as well in the
end. My beanie is unfolded here and I wanted 'stay weird' to be upside down, so I placed
the letters straight up.
In case you're wondering what Kaleidoscope
means, it is derived from three ancient greek words and together they mean 'the observation
of beautiful forms'.
If you're Dutch, you should check out strijkletters.nl,
they have over 60 different fonts and a lot of other cool stuff. Their service is great
as well. Furthermore, Dutch people should keep an eye on my blog this week because maybe
you can win one of these beanies........
I hope you enjoyed this video and maybe you
have some inspiration to make your own beanie. Let me know which one is your favourite in
the comments below and you can also subscribe to me and give this video a thumps up if you
liked it. More stuff coming soon and I'll see you next time! Bye!
