OK so, on. . .
It was a Saturday, I was working at Voertman's, and Vernon told me he was going to Austin. It wasn't
you know the whole--you know we talk every day-- or, we're together every day.
He didn't tell me he was going to Austin on Saturday.
All of a sudden Saturday morning, "I'm gonna go to Austin," so I knew something was up, so I'm calling my parents like,
"Mom, what's up?" and she's like, "I dunno!"
We're both from Austin. So if he goes to Austin, we both go, and he's the one that had the car.
Did I--I had a car, but I don't think it was a great car. Anyway so he went and
his brother and his brother's fiance invited me to dinner that night. --They live--at the time they lived in Irving.
And so we went to. . .
We went to dinner in Las Colinas.
And then you can talk about the whole. . .
They went to Cheddar's and. . .
Previously before all this happened I went ahead and took a bunch of pictures
of different letters. . . at a shopping center somewhere.
You never told me but. . .
They were all from different places-- --They were all from different places. Basically each letter was from a different place.
So I had a bunch of questions to give her. I gave my brother all these questions,
and each question she got right,
she got on envelope. --And they gave me the picture--There's a photo album first--You know we should--I should've brought that, but anyways--
They gave me the photo album
and I was like, "What is this," and then with the photo album and i got the letters-- --It was blank, of course
Well yeah, I'm getting there.
So you put the letters in there and it spells out,
you know, will you marry me. So anyways I get through most of it,
and I'm kinda antsy I'm like looking' like Vernon's walking into Cheddar's, this is all-- because Cheddar's was our restaurant, like for us, Cheddar's was big time--
Well that's high dollar when you really think about. . . our budget.
That was like, you know, five-star dining.
And. . .
They get to the question and they're like,
"Go to the icon of your relationship."
And I'm like, "What does that mean?"
And so then I say, "UNT." And they're like, "Yes."
They gave me a cd of all of our. . .
Should I say love songs?
Good music.
Right so love song-- --Romantic music.
. . . to play on the way to Denton, which is what, like a 45-minute drive.
From Irving? Uh. . .
You know that is a pretty long--First of all, I'll get to the story, I think it was really sweet,
but that was a long drive do you know how much gas? Anyway, so
So from Cheddar's all the way to UNT and I park at the Union.
Did you have to pay for parking?
Vernon, it was like
eight o'clock at night it was nobody there.
Walk around there's a big eagle,
and there's Vernon. And you know what?
You asked me one more question.
What question did I ask you?
You asked--I don't think you had anymore questions to ask me so you ask me something pretty silly, but at the time I was really nervous
and I almost got it wrong.
You asked me your middle name.
That was the last question.
The other questions were pretty hard, but you asked me that question and I almost forgot it.
Because I saw the ring box.
I already had the ring box out? --You did!
You were like, "I have one more question," and I was like, "Ohhh."
It was like, "What's my middle name?" and I was like, "Ohmagoodness."
I was stumped, but anyways so I answered it, and
he proposed, and I said yes.
We were married, um,
proposed in February, and we were married in July, in Jamaica.
