Greetings, my respected viewers!
Unexpectedly, even for myself,
I decided to make a video about Nosgoth, the game
which at this moment
is in Closed-Beta stage.
And yes, it can't stay unnoticed right away
that on the tip of the spear in
Sarafan statue's hands
there shines Ukrainean national emblem. Just noticed.
There are a lot of videos on the net
showing Nosgoth gameplay,
but most of them are quite useless.
I mean, people have just registered in beta,
not knowing anything about the game,
already make videos like
"Rrr, I killed someone, yahoo!"
and "Aaaw, someone killed me, so sad!"
I realy don't know Who needs that.
Well I'll try to give some advice
for the newcomers to the game
concerning how not to become
an all-irritating
noob.
I'm not a pro-gamer, certainly.
However, I've played Nosgoth since Closed-Alpha
and have already learned some.
So, let's start with vampires.
With Sentinel to be
more specific...
also referred to as Razielim.
Well, anyway, I call him a bat.
So, the bat is unavailable at the beginning
for new players
of Closed-Beta. And that's consistent.
I do NOT advise you to purchase him right away.
You really don't need him at first.
And if you do, you'll feel real pain in the ***.
Better get acquainted with other classes first.
Nevertheless, couple of words. A Must-have for the bat is
Lift-off secondary ability.
The point is, it is crucial for the vampires
to be able to flee in case of
group enemy attack.
By default both other classes
have their abilities,
to reduce damage taken,
and get rid of the bola, thown by Hunter.
But the bat doesn't have anything like that.
Purchasing Lift-off will let you to break the bola
and leave the fight as fast as possible.
One more thing here, after you take off,
Don't try to get higher
you are exposed to archers
and crossbowmen.
Conversely, you have to dive as
soon as possible and hide
behind any buildings
and other obstacles,
To leave the line of fire.
Next,
let's proceed to this Tyrant comrade,
Also known as Turelim. I call him the tank.
The tank, in my opinion, is optimal
for a newbie,
I recommend to start playing with him,
He is unhasty, enduring, does not require much fast reflexes
and allows you to
control the situation.
When you Charge
with RMB,
it is not necessary to push it to the very limit,
unless your goal is to dart past
like a freight train and disappear in the horizon.
(I witness such a tactic quite often)
My standard combo with the tank is:
Charge (RMB) into the croud,
preferrably from behind or flanks (frontal assault is undesirable).
Press Q (Ground Slam) and baffle some folks
before they can flee. Perform a couple of melee attacks
at somebody, and when your health falls below the half
press F (Ignore Pain)
and get out.
Let the rest of the team to deal with them
while you regenerate.
The point is if you get a kill
by sacrificing your own life,
it does not bring any benefit
to the team score.
You better give away that kill to your teammate,
and he doesn't die, and your team is in the black
as a result.
Sometimes it happens that You need to attack
from the front since your team is hiding
somewhere on the roof
awaiting some action from you.
Because, you know, "You're the tank, so go and tank!".
In such a case, just Charge into the croud
DO NOT perform Slam (Q),
because at this moment you are
already half-dead,
since you were the only target,
and everybody shot at you.
Immediately press F (Ignore Pain) And run away,
distracting the enemy fire
while your teammates cut them one by one.
Being affected by Ignore Pain,
however, beware the alchemists.
They deal much more damage
than archers and crossbowmen
with their arrows.
Concerning abilities. I think,
tank is very balanced in his default config.
You may try to replace
standard Ground Slam with Shockwave
ans have some fun.
It deals more damage, but
it is directed, and you have to aim well,
this makes it slightly harder to play.
Let's proceed to Rever
Also known as Dumahim,
I call him the hopper.
I strongly recommend to purchase
Choking Haze ability for him as soon as
you get enough gold.
It is great fun to throw it
at enemies when they group together.
Here is what you need to do.
Approach the group from the flank and throw a grenade (Q)
so they can't see it.
Ofcourse they can hear it,
falling somewhere, but can't tell
where exactly. So they'll start to jump all over the shop.
Pick one of them
and pounce (RMB).
Then act as situation demands:
if noone comes to support your victim,
finish him with melee attack.
Otherwise press F (Evasion) and flee.
To Pounce sucessfully try to scope out
at low angles.
With severe slope, for example,
vertically from a
roof top
near to 90 degrees, it is hard
to hit the target.
I like hoppers very much, really,
because they are so much fun
with those poisonous grenades, and more of them
they are very sensitive to controls
and react quckly to your button mashing,
you know.
The other two classes
are slower.
When you master pouncing
without aim assist
I recommend to replace it with Savage Pounce.
It is much more effective,
deals more damage,
consequently, you get more chance
to lethally cut your opponent's throat.
And now some general advice
about strategy and tactics while playing as vampires.
Frontal attack is bad tactics,
even if you
play as tank.
Really bad idea.
You reach the enemy team - you loose half of your health already
without dealing any real damage to them.
Flank them, maneuver, dodge,
be tricky.
Next. Right after you attacked
a hunter
(crossbowman)
Make no mistake, he will try to
throw his bola at you.
Look for this moment,
and dodge to the side (Space) evade it - and AFTER that
come closer to him, and finish.
Next. When this archer one, the scout
has his bow fully charged, his tip is on fire.
I mean the tip of his arrow of course...
And it is quite visible across the half of the map
Or may be even across the entire map.
That means, if you see his burning tip,
aiming in your direction,
you hide at once!
Do not get exposed (And *** hardly)
And then flank him (you alredy got it i hope)
Next. Concerning teamplay. Actually,
It is quite simple with vampires.
Optimal situation is
when you four
attack all four of
your opponents simultaneously.
In this situation they can't
help each other.
Actually, the effectiveness
of human team
depends on mutual help
and co-operation.
Thus, try to attack simultaneously
and that's quite enough.
Now let's talk about some countermeasures.
Counter alchemist, this is obvious
the bat is most effective.
You can't hit an air target
with grenades quite well, right?
You kidnap it (RMB), you drop it
attack from the above and finish it. Done!
However, if you attack an alchemist
with full health playing as tank or hopper
better don't try to finish her off.
That's just decause you will get disemboweled with grenades
And your corpse will burn like a torch
for the great joy of the enemy team.
(Attacking already wounded alhemists is OK though)
The hopper is quite good
Against hunters. He can
dodge the bola quite well.
It is harder
to evade it
with tank or bat
Just as I said, the hopper is faster
and reacts fine
to the controls...
Tank in his turn
is optimal against the scout.
If you concentrate on somebody
during team melee fight, you better lock on scout.
You won't get
as much damage from him.
That's all for now, I think.
Part 2 of this video will be soon.
All I tell here is
just my opinion,
not some absolute set of rules
necessary to follow.
Nevertheless, I hope, this video is
helpful for some of you.
So, leave comments,
share your expertise, for example.
Or ask your questions
about this game.
