Hello floorball addicts and welcome to the second episode of SchlagART
We ve finally made it! The second episode is finished
and also this time we ve got some pretty exciting subjects for you.
Max, what are we doing this time?
Of course we tested a new stick
Exactly. In fact, we tested the new Cavity Curve stick from Unihoc.
We were travelling across Germany and among other cities, we visited
Muenster, where we interviewed the resident floorball team.
Correct. And we also visited Chemnitz, more precisely the final4, which every floorball fan should know about.
Last but not least we went to Greven. Max, whats so special about Greven?
In Greven you can find the storage of Unihoc.
You wouldn t believe it but in Germany there really is an establishment of Unihoc. We ve seen it and it s a real highlight for every floorball player.
On top of boxes in four
GPS : You ve reached the destination.
The next morning
I m Jan Patocka, originally I m from Czechia
but I ve been living in Germany for 11 years now. I ve studied in Bonn and Koeln
which is where I m living right now, and I ve been working at the Renew Group in Greven for one year.
My name is Phillip Mertens, I m 34 years old and I live in Muenster. I ve been playing Floorball for about 12 years. Well, we are employees here at the Renew Group of the Swedish parent company
Well, we are employees here at the Renew Group of the Swedish parent company. It has always been a dream for us to do something Floorball related.
The moment was perfect, we both finished our studies and wanted to start working, always thinking about how we could combine everything with Floorball.
The Floorball scene in Germany isn t that big, so we felt even better when they asked us to work here.
What defines the Renew Group is
We mean this particular subsidiary.
Right, the Renew Group GmbH in Germany is basically defined by the fact that we can say that if we would look over to Sweden we could see that it s the same as here.
So most of the people who are sitting there and running the company, the ones working in the warehouse or the offices are all 100% Floorball- addicts.
And what also defines us is our aspiration to have all the goods in stock right here, just like in Sweden.
Where do you see yourselves in 10 years or where do you want to be by then?
Could we still sit here then or would there be a shelf standing right here?
I hope we won t be able to sit here in 10 years because we will then have added to the back of this building or got a second floor.
Yes, there still is potential.
Obviously this isn t just a dream-It s a goal we want to reach. Not only we but also Unihoc, of course.
I think in 10 years many thinks can happen. I m not able to tell you an exact number of players but we need at least five times more until the country will recognise our sport and take it seriously.
I think that if we reached about 20,000 or 30,000 players the branch would grow a lot faster.
Thank you for this wonderful interview.
Thank you.Thank you for coming.
We ll just look around for a bit. Right, you have to show us the warehouse.
We d love to.
So , here you can see our office. Here we handle all the orders. That s our empire.
Our showroom.
Now to the fun part, behind our office, the warehouse is located.
We can t show you those, these are products for the season of 2013/14, sample copies that have just arrived this morning.
In the first row there s sticks from Unihoc and in the second row those from Zone.
Bags, also a big and important area. And here we have the keeper s equipment.
At the moment we are stocktaking, everyone is busy counting. Here is the rest of the equipment: Sweat- and headbands.
W. W stands for the balls.
The former kitchen, you see we re using every room.
These sticks were used in World Championships! That isn t a joke
Here we ve got another room for our shirts, jumpers and tracksuits.
And goals.
That s it, then , I think.
Those were some quite interesting days in Greven, don t you think? We ve received many impressions and seen many sticks.
That s why it was so difficult to decide which stick we want to show you now. But I think we ve picked one that is interesting for all of you.
Exactly my thoughts- And here it is.
Sticktest
Today we present the Cavity Curve 3.0 Super Toplight 26 Black form Unihoc.
Here you are.
Thanks.
This stick is special in three different ways. Firstly, there is the Curve 3.0 technology, which improves the force transmission during the shot.
Secondly it s from the Super Toplight series. Because at Unihoc it isn t light, lighter, lightest but Toplight, Featherlight and Super Toplight.
We tested it and it s true, Unihoc succeeded in making this stick even lighter than those from the Featherlight series.
Last but not least it has got the new Cavity blade which should make passing more accurate and shooting firmer.
Should we try?
Great and I have to do the running again.
Hi Daniel. Wonderful that you made it here so fast.
There you are at last. Max! Stop it! Stop this! I m tired of it.
That was fun!
You want some fun? I ll give you some fun!
This time I was quite excited about testing a new stick. I was really curious about what the Cavity blade promises. And we weren t disappointed.
It s unusual that I just take a stick and play without a warm up.
The special attribute of the blade is it s concavity. At the top the ball lies in a small pocket might. That s noticeable especially when passing and schlenz shooting.
The slapshot isn t as accurate and firm as promised. Personally, I like to make schlenz shots and therefore the stick is wonderful for me.
The design is quite simple but well made. The engraved Unihoc application is particularly beautiful. The whole stick isn t as loud as those from last year, it s a little duller which suits it wonderfully.
Another great feature is the grip, which doesn t consist of a normal binder anymore; it now has got some colour accents with the name.
And I m delighted they got rid of these double grips and have kept to using only one. That s lovely.
From Greven it s only 10 minutes to Muenster.
Long enough for our boom operator to fall asleep during the ride.
After waking him we met the Floorball players of Muenster and attended their training.
Which you will see in the next segment.
After visiting Greven we ve finally made it to Muenster! Now we re sitting here with Berit, who d rather be called...
...Beri.
Beri, all right.
It s Beri then. Why don't you introduce yourself so people know who you are and where you re from?
I'm from Muenster and I play Floorball here, I'm 18 years old and doing my A levels at the moment.
What s the name of the team you re on and where do they play?
The team s called "Pink-Ladies".
We ve already heard of it.Nice woman s name!
And that does have a reason...?
The name was our coache s idea.
And it does influence the team- Somehow, you re all wearing pink!
Yes, we do! And since this season, we have beautiful, pink football socks!
And you even painted your nails pink!
Yup, it s kind of a ritual- We always paint our nails pink before a match...Amazing! ... It's like a lucky charm. 99 00:15::21,100 --> 00:15:29,500 Since when does your team exist- and most importantly, how long have you been playing in the national league? Is this your first season?
Well, our team was founded back in 2008- That was shortly before I moved here.
One year later we started playing on the small pitch and now we re playing on the big pitch as we finally have enough team members
Before, there weren t enough players to use the big pitch... 103 00:15:49,100 --> 00:16,01,000 Do you think you're being overshadowed by the men's team or are you emancipated enough to say "We'll overtake them!"?
I wouldn't say we re being overshadowed by them- We re kind of equal. We often train with them and know each other well, so we don't try to oushine each other.
So you're training tonight, when the men's team is training?
Yes, though not all of them will be there, just a few. Okay.
There s no strict division between the men and the women.
Thank you for the interview!
Thanks! We ll be keeping our fingers crossed for your further success in floorball!
Thank you for having me.You re welcome.
Hello everybody, we re a Westphalian floorball club playing in the Second League North West.
We used to play together with Herm but now we re playing on our own as Muenster.
What do you miss as a floorball player? Where would you want to see the sport going and what do you miss in its development?
Well, I used to play soccer in the lower leagues and I just needed money; I only play f or the money.
Ahaha no, I would love for us to have some more fans and for the sport to have a higher level of media exposure-There should be reports in the newspapers, not just on the internet. That would be great.
About how many spectators do you have when you play at home?
There was this one time when there were just two people, but usually about 30 to 40 come to see us play.
This is Karlis. Karlis is not just the coach of the team UHC Muenster but also the physiotherapist of the german national team, right Karlis?
Yup, that s right. I ve been to Switzerland with our national team.
Where do you come from originally?
From Latvia.
Oh, then the quarter-finals must have been an amazing experience for you, musn t they?
Yes, it was a very interesting feeling.
We're now done here at the training of the UHC Muenster and had the pleasure of playing with- or rather against-
the team and its No. 1 goalkeeper Dieter. Dieter, are you alright?
Yeah of course.
Great. Now we ve heard a lot about floorball players and what the sport means to them.
You re a keeper and therefore you have a completely different point of view and an entirely different motivation.
So what motivates you to play floorball and what do you like most about it?.
Well obviously stopping the opposing team from scoring goals! But apart from that I think it s a wonderful, dynamic sport with an awful lot of running and team spirit involved; that s what makes it so beautiful.
Thank you for letting us play against you!
No problem.
Have a good trip home then! Thanks, you too!
As promised, we travelled through half of Germany for this episode: We ve been to Greven and Muenster but also to Chemnitz.
Yes, and there we went to "Final4" and watched the final match. But that s not the only thing we did...
We also interviewed the players, the organisers, the people at the workshops...
... and we took a look behind the scenes, which you will see now!
So, about the event itself- Why is it called "event"?
You know Final4, semi-finals on Saturday, finals on Sunday. But the concept of our association is not just organising cup matches, it s making an event out of it
and inlcuding a bit of knowledge exchange. You already said it- The event includes workshops for coaches, for teachers, for referees; so that we can popularise floorball a little-
teachers: They act as multipliers for our sport and make for some sort of know-how-transfer.
The workshops are, well, not exactly a highlight, they re more of a supplemental offering which rounds out the matches and enables us to use our time and possibilities effectively.
Then there s the night tournament, which of course is every Final4 s highlight. We have 32 participating teams now, because the city council said "Our staff needs some rest, too- You ve got
till one o clock and you ve got the sports hall for the whole weekend". That s why only 32 teams could enter the competition
I m saying "only" because there was such a great demand; there could easily have been 48+ teams! But you ve got to draw the line somewhere.Sunday morning there s the talent cup
Of course we also wanted to include the younger talent, so we ve got an under-11 and an under-13 tournament.
6 teams signed up for the under-11 tournament and 11 teams for the under-13 tournament.
It s kind of a highlight for the kids. Their award ceremony is also integrated into the men s finals so the children are motivated to think about where their career in floorball might go.
And in the end, there's the actual finals- With a light show and a rock band playing the song of Chemnitz and everything as well as a proper award ceremony with music and confetti.
I think the winner really knows he s won in the end and his merit will be appreciated accordingly.
This Buddha is very popular, it s sort of like a challenge cup and it s our award for this tournament. It weighs about 20 kg.
A short evaluation of the match- It was extremely balanced until the end, do you think you deserved to win?
Well of course the cup winner deserves to win. We beat everyone in our way and started the match well, then there was this minor issue with the injury in the fifth minute which we had to adapt ourselves to.
Hamburg was very strong today, but I think we fought back at the right moments.
What conclusions do you draw from this event?
Everything was very well-organised, there was a lovely framework programme and I hope I can speak on behalf of everyone when I say that I ll remember all the emotions and the joy.
And having won our silverware there s no way we ll ever lose!
Congratulations, enjoy your victory! Thank you, we will!
Max, that s it for our second episode!
It s been an unbelievably wonderful episode and we had a lot of fun filming it; we met so many new people.
