We were living in a terraced house before
My wife, Charlotte, is a fashion stylist so,
you know, we both have an opinion,
not necessarily the same either
And it was really a combination of both of our
aesthetics in a way

Because this space was so big,
I immediately started of thinking about...chalets
♪[music playing]♪
This was a big, empty shell
and we didn’t want the kind of
New York loft vibe at all
We wanted something that was kind of warmer
and that felt comfortable,
but at the same time preserve that volume
♪[music playing]♪
I’m fascinated by scale on one hand,
or I should say I’m fascinated
by things that are ‘scaleless’
and the concept of scales, I mean intellectually
really, really fascinates me
And when you go to a place like Japan,
for example, and people talk about
how the Japanese are obsessed with detail,
you discover that actually it’s nothing to do
with detail at all, it’s scale

I’m always working,
like a lot of creative people,
you know I can’t switch off
I can’t disassociate work from pleasure
and in a way my job is my hobby
and you know it’s all sort of interconnected
