In the name of Allah most gracious and merciful.
My Tunisian brothers and sisters,
I did not speak until I was sure that
there is a danger lurking in Tunisia’s future.
These are true dangers with factual evidence.
This is not a provocation. This is an official issue.
Therefore, I ask our brave men and women
in Tunisian military uniforms
to stand as the strong support
of our Republic and the Republican system of Tunisia.
Also, our brothers, sisters, sons and daughters in
the interior security forces,
police officers, investigators, and public servants;
we need you to be the protectors of the Republic’s ideals.
Tunisians still want to celebrate “The Day of the Republic” every July 25,
This is nonnegotiable. It is not debatable. Every year, as tradition and custom.
When Tunisians were on the streets getting shot and bleeding,
they did not ask for more mosques to pray in.
Mosques are abundant in Tunisia.
Those who doubt it go and count them in all cities and states.
Tunisians are devout Muslims.
Sure there has been a move away from Islam in the past,
but Tunisians celebrate their faith and their prophet (pbuh).
No one doubts this.
We do not need anyone to teach us our religion.
We do not need Rachid Ghannouchi to divide
our nation into Muslims versus infidels and non-believers.
We also have minorities, they too are Tunisians.
Some have lived in Tunisia before Islam
even entered Tunisia. We must know this historical fact.
Therefore, I warn you again.
Tunisian men and women, young and old, and of all professions.
This sweeping attack on your new democracy
is a terrorist movement, not a Muslim movement. It is dangerous and uncompromising.
God forbid, if these terrorists do not get their way,
what happened in Algeria will repeat in Tunisia.
The proof is in the words of Rachid Ghannouchi,
in a meeting with other fundamentalist organizations
and possible terrorist organizations in Tunisia,
whose ultimate goals are opposed to Islam, its values and the Prophet (pbuh). Listen to him.
Seculars did not expect Ennahda to take over the government.
Beji Caid Sebssi repeatedly said before the election, Islamists will not surpass 20%..
He thought these 20% would be in the fringe. They can be appeased with one or two ministries,
or pushed out of the government altogether.
Surprisingly, even with the election laws in place,
we not only did better than expected,
but we are now in control of the entire operation.
This was not expected in the West, East, or anywhere.
Ennahda took the government.
It came from underneath the rubble.
In one year, we organized using the faith of the people.
The secular aspects of this nation
do not control the government. But look at who controls the media,
It is in their hands, the economy.
We are on top of the the administrations. But below us,
it is still with them. It is at the bottom from the trustees in the small townships and up..
We still see some RCD members coming back to politics.
They have the media and the Army.
The Army is not guaranteed. It is not guaranteed.
The Police is not guaranteed. These policemen, who did this. [stop Islamists from violently rioting in the streets]
They did not have their orders from the Ennahda controlled Interior Minister Larayadh. No..
They still exist everywhere. The whole chain of command is in their hands.
Brothers do not get greedy with the numbers,
because you went out with 1,000, 2,000, 10,000, or 20,000 people.
The pillars of the state are still in their hands.
Be patient until we change everything.
Now we have the religious affairs ministry.
We do not have party bosses anymore; we have a nation under our control.
Do not rush things. Right now I say to Salafist youths:
Yesterday, you were under pressure
in mosques and schools and everywhere in society.
Now if you want to give a lesson, start a station,
a madrassa, a university, religious training camps
or bring preachers from anywhere and make public appearances you can.Why are you in a rush?
Let’s digest what we have accomplished for you and take our time.
Do you think everything we got is permanent?
This is what I thought in Algeria in 1991.
Our backs were strong in Algeria. We thought we reached our goals
and reached a point of no return.
This was obviously false. We lost everything and returned to where we were before,
and everything started working against Islamists with secularists, even mosques. And Islamists were wanted in Algeria.
Don’t you think this will happen in Tunisia?
They voted for us with 80% in Algeria, and the people turned against them.
The intellectual secular elites of Tunisia are stronger than those in Algeria.
And Algerian Islam is stronger than Tunisian Islam. And they still lost control.
The smart man, when he gets some money,
he puts it in his pocket, better yet a safe.
So that he can make more without worrying about what he earned earlier.
We achieved greatness, but this only a start.
Look at how all the other parties are gathering against Islam.
Against us.
Let us keep them calm. So let’s give them a non-radical speech.
Let’s keep what we won from them and insure it.
Let’s fill the country with Islamic associations, schools;
but people are still ignorant to Islam.
We came from underground to power.
Our people in government still don’t know how to govern yet.
The ministers we have are on top, but everyone under them are working against them.
They need more time to buy allies in their environment,
to eradicate sedition and get complete control.
We shouldn’t rush like energetic youths.
Our young energy should be controlled by our elders’ minds.
Is there a real value to Islam to add Sharia to the new constitution?
Is there a benefit in this battle?
We say the Tunisian people, by way of politics,
have submitted to Islam as the religion of the state. It will be in the constitution.
As for Sharia law, a small elite group of intellectuals, who control society,
are afraid of Sharia.
Do we have a difference between Islam and Sharia? No. They are the same.
Sharia includes everything in Islam by its original meaning.
Even people who support Sharia in the Assembly
they are still against the eye-for-an-eye doctrine.
They say, we want the text in the constitution,
so we can use the text to tie any regime’s hands.
The last constitution didn’t tie the regime’s hands.
This is the superficial view, with no depth.
This is the public Islamist. He want Islam in the text of the constitution.
As for the public secularist,
he accepted Islam in the text, but he does not want Sharia in there.
Like a people in Umar’s (puh) reign who said we will not pay tithe.
So he told them: Fine, then you will pay taxes. And they did.
They accepted the named, but refused the name.
Secularists are the same. They accepted Islam, but no Sharia. No problem.
Just accept Islam for us right now.
It doesn’t matter what in the text.
Since when have texts or constitutions controlled nations?
Men take the text in the direction they want.
Now after I have shown you what he said.
After hearing his discourse, we now know the real plan for the future of our nation to Ennahda.
He openly calculates his plan
to take over the military, police, and other
government offices and institutions of the state.
The plan is clear.
Slowly but surely,
Ennahda plans to control the state
by infiltrating these upstanding pillars of our republic.
He dreams of his party winning more than 40% in the next election.
This is certainly a dream.
He exposed his real self to the people and told us
his true goal of creating a terrorism state
that is cooperating with terrorist parties, who have
no legitimate connection to the truths of Islamic faith.
He explains to them his thorough gradual process,
he wants to control and manipulate the national institutions to terrorize the people.
Then we can change and edit what we want, not what the people want. This is his ultimate goal.
At this time Ghannouchi wants to be considered
as the Great Spiritual Leader of Tunisia like the Iranian Ayatollah.
He believes he is a reference,
a compromiser between everyone and every party.
He is reasonable and fixes all problems through his faith and trustworthiness.
When in fact he is calming the people
for certain tyrannical and dangerous governance the future. Therefore as Tunisians
we should be awake to this farce so he and his allies do not deceive the people.
We are Muslims. We believe in God and the Prophet (pbuh)
and Rachid Ghannouchi will not teach us religion.
He will not decide whether we enter Heaven or Hell. He does not represent God on Earth.
He is not a the replacement of the Prophet (pbuh).
What philosophy or theory has be brought for us
to drop everything we know to follow him?
He is not a thinker. He is not even a proper theologian.
With all due respect, his thought lacks economic ideas,
We are looking for a plan for the unemployed,
and solutions for the elderly or retirees,
not even a strategy to combat poverty in Tunisia.
We are not looking for a Khilafa, theocracy, or terror-harboring state, which will put us on a hit list for exporting terrorists.
For example, according to preliminary media reports two of the main suspects in the
Benghazi attacks on 9/11 are Tunisians.
So one day, will we become a terror sponsoring
state: hiding, training and exporting terrorists?
Tunisians are not like this. We are not the Taliban.
No. This is Tunisia.
Our Islam is peaceful, moderate,
humble and tolerant to freethinking
We are modern, progressive, and civilized.
Even when the ousted president escaped,
the people did not kill him like Gadhafi in Libya.
It is an event that brings shame upon the tyrant and his people.
We are not this type.
Tunisians reached a new height among civilized nations
with their peaceful and glorious revolution through their thought and progressive ideals.
They wanted democracy to succeed and to keep their Republic.
We want to use our constitutional laws and I repeat we are a Muslim people
About 98% of Tunisians are Muslims.
but no Tunisian regime or person can force people to practice any religion.
I speak of a Tunisia for Tunisians.
For Tunisian only.
We like to have relations with our Muslim and Arab neighbors,
but we also have our traditions and cultural identity.
We are already Muslim; we do not need a new different Islam.
We are born Muslim. We do not need a conversion.
This is our country to preserve. I cannot repeat enough,
Tunisians want to honor the tradition of celebrating the Day of Republic every July 25
to commemorate our independence and those who died for our Republic.
Our military and police are the protectors of our Republican system
and our land, water, and air borders.
We are sure, God willing.
Our Army is principled and it will not sit idle
to foreign or domestic enemies of the Republic, for example these terrorists
who think most Tunisians are not Muslims.
I wanted to expose this in order to keep our Tunisian Republic.
No Islamic Khilafa in Tunisia.
I by myself cannot do anything.
With you, we can do everything. When The Tunisian people are with me,
we can change these people in control and remove them from power.
They can still be active in Tunisia if they are Tunisian.
But they will not and cannot force on us their negative and pejorative points of view.
Peace Be With You and God Bless.
