[musical intro] Hi, I'm Donna and it's day 9, July 31, 2013.
It has been a really rough day for us today. I found out that my whole dad's side of the
family had no idea I was engaged. We told our immediate family either in person or over
the phone and I made a Facebook post with a photo of us and I did it in the form of
a life event. You know, 'Donna added a life event: Got Engaged.' And a lot of people commented
on it but not as much as I would have thought and today I found out that they scheduled
the family picnic on the day that we're planning to have our engagement party, and I didn't
want to just chime in and tell them the problem because I could tell by the lack of comments
that none of them knew about the engagement. So I made a status saying 'Thank you for all
the support on our engagement.' and we got a ton of responses and it turns out there
were tons of people who had no idea we were engaged. And I guess for people who are looking
to have more of a low-key announcement you might want to have more than one way you announce
it because the one post just did not get around enough. So, some phone calls, email, it really
depends on your preference I guess, but I can't believe that our announcement wasn't
very effective. So, it all got sorted out in the end, my family was very wonderful about
it. But, it was just very confusing. The reason that we're having such a rough day is because
a couple of hours ago we went out to get dinner, and we actually got in a minor car accident
with someone who turned out to be someone we knew. So, everything's alright, everyone's
ok but it's just been a really rough day so I'm sure I look kind of worse for the wear.
But, anyway, the point of today's post is that the announcement did not go exactly as
expected and something to give some thought about if you're looking to announce something
like that. So, that's all for today, I guess we will talk to you tomorrow. Bye.
[Bye]
