So you now have your own apartment and it is bare as hell. You've been browsing through
magazines and found some elements you want to see in it. But you have a bit of a problem-
What kind of TV furniture should you get. I mean, you can't just get any furniture
for your TV to sit on. It has to fit with your design aesthetics. So as you go on your
quest to find TV Furniture I have come up with some tips to consider in finding the
perfect item to place your television set.
Size Matters: Though this tip might make some of you giggle while the rest shake their heads,
this is certainly true in the case of furniture for televisions. The first thing that you
have to consider is the size of your TV -- you need to know the exact dimensions to see if
your TV will fit perfectly on the table or in the television cabinet you plan to purchase.
The next factor you have to consider, is your living space. I found the perfect mahogany
cabinet where I could place pictures of me and my girls -- but it was simply too big
for my apartment. Did I buy it? Of course not, sadly!
Color is Everything: Just like how you scrutinize the color of lipstick you use, give the same
amount of effort in finding furniture that fits the color of your carpet, wallpaper,
etc. If you're gonna go for wood, you better take note of the color; Teak, Walnut and Golden
Oak go well with almost everything; while you have to be more careful if you like shades
similar to Natural Oak or Antique Cherry. But since you're a modern girl (sorry guys
you know girls make better choices than boys), you'll probably use Ebony if you decide
on wood furniture -- even if metallic furniture is usually the safest option.
Play with the Display: When you shop for your television furniture, it should not hold your
TV alone. Remember that you have to pick an item that should also fit your DVD player,
component, DVDs... you know what I'm talking about. If you have a big living space, you
may want to consider having a TV table -- pick the long ones as those are super chic! But
in medium to small spaces, you might want to get a TV Cabinet. This will provide a lot
of extra storage space and allow you to display whatever ornaments you may have. Play around
with your TV furniture, from where you'll place it down to what you'll put in it.
(Hers a great little Tip: placing your furniture diagonally is visually stunning.)
