Hi and welcome to another review!
Today we'll be having a look at Mattel "The Dark Knight Rises" Movie Masters Batman, which is part of series 1!
This figure has been released in 2012 and it's 6" scaled, it's about 6 inches tall!
Let's start off, as usual, with the packaging!
As already seen, it's shaped as a Batman gauntlet.
On top, the logo of the movie, "The Dark Knight Rises".
As you can see by this little sticker, it's the Kmart exclusive version, which features 3 blueprints as exclusive content.
On the back, the collect and connect Bat-signal with this read up, which I'll focus for you.
The other figures in the series 1: Batman, Bane and Alfred.
Be careful because "Figures may not stand as shown"!
Such a weird thing to write on a packaging!
Let's take a closer look!
I don't think I exaggerate if I say that the sculpt is really impressive!
The amount of details is really incredible!
Very accurate to the movie! Specially if you consider how intricate the costume is in "The Dark Knight" and "The Dark Knight Rises"!
The gauntlets, with the blades.
The cape is made out of a soft plastic.
Really really nice!
There's also a good likeness to Christian Bale, even if it's hard to tell because of the cowl.
The belt is very nice as well!
Very very neat!
Painting is pretty basic, with this glossy black paint featuring some greysh blue details here and there.
Except for the belt that has a nice metallic painting, very well done!
Speaking of painting, I'd like to give you a comparison with the Batman figure from "The Dark Knight".
This is from "The Dark Knight Rises".
And this is from "The Dark Knight".
Obviously the sculpt is exactly the same because the costume has not changed in the sequel.
As you can tell, there's a big paint difference.
The "Dark Knight Rises" one features a glossy paintjob.
The "Dark Knight" one is matt, it's not glossy.
Now, I want to point out a thing: this figure, from "The Dark Knight", is a wave 1 figure, as they call it, it's from the very first batch of figures.
If you pick a wave 2 figure, released later, for example this unmasked Batman, you can tell that the painting is already glossy!
I apologize for the reflex on the package, I hope you can see it!
So, saying there's a paint difference between the "Dark Knight" and the "Dark Knight Rises" figures, it's not 100% correct.
There's a difference only with the very first batch of Batmans. With the later releases, there's no difference!
As for the articulation: head is on a ball joint. Arms can fully rotate and move in and out. Full rotation at the upper biceps. Single jointed elbows (a bit stiff), and full rotation at the hands.
Crunch articulation, full rotation at the waist. Legs can move forward and back, in and out. Full rotation at the thigh, single jointed knees and ankle articulation (a bit stiff).
Accessories wise: Batman comes with the Bat-signal piece. This sort of base.
The time to finally put together the Bat-signal is very close! We'll talk about it very soon!
The Kmart exclusive version comes with these three blueprints as special content, like I said before.
Let's take a closer look!
Here's the Tumbler! They're made out of plastic! I'm really surprised they're not cardboard!
Then we have the Bat-pod!
Applied Science...Lucius Fox! :)
And then, the Batwing! Or "The Bat", as originally called in the movie. (Note: in Italy it's called Batwing)
In addition, there's this little paper folder to store the blueprints! Nice touch by Mattel!
I strongly recommend this figure! Specially if you don't own the "Dark Knight" version!
If you already have a Movie Masters Batman, I suggest to pick up this Kmart exclusive version because the blueprints are a good additional reason to buy a figure you already have!
You can find it on ebay for about 25 bucks plus shipping, but I suggest to hurry if you want this Kmart exclusive version because, since it's a limited edition, it may become very hard to find!
That being said, I'll see you on the next video! BYE!
