I believe in freedom of expression
I cannot live with one way of thinking and that's why
i decided to study journalism at the University of Oklahoma
I came here because in Venezuela the government did not support me
when I decide to study journalism
I have too many barriers in front of me
every time we want to talk on TV
We are limited. We don't have that
open media for us
I want to be free and that's why I decided to study
at *** College of Mass Communications and Journalism
It is an incredible environment to interact with people
network to get involved with people who really value your work
They have
public relations, advertising journalism, professional writing
and broadcast journalism. Dean Foote
is more than a dean for me he is a manager
he's my advisor
he offered me this opportunity to be on Telemundo in
Oklahoma
as a Spanish anchor and I said "no" I don't want to be in front of a camera
I've very scared about it and he said just try it.
Now I have been doing this for three years so it's my new passion
I really enjoy. I feel a lot of emotions
when I'm talking in front of a camera. I wish people in my country have the same
opportunities
as a do. I mean you value freedom and that's
very important. What I miss the most about Venezuela, of course, is the culture.
That affection is incredible.
I miss my family, my friends, and I miss
talking in Spanish. I never thought about
staying here forever. When I see all the opportunities I have to take advantage
of all of this. I want to get the most
of this education. I want to be the best
I know it is hard, but when I look back
I see this is the right thing I'm doing. That's why
I said "you know what dad, I think I'm going to stay." That's what I did.
