Since trench coats, they vary in style, they vary in color, they vary in texture. Different
fabrics. But a trench coat is always classic. No matter how you do it. If you want to throw
on something that looks good, is timeless. A trench coat, throw it on one of your croquis
and then start your collection because it will never be out of date, it will never be
out of style. Just change the proportions a little bit, make it more modern like I did
here. I made the collar huge. I made it almost like a circus collar. The lapels I exaggerated
as well and then I have it tightly belted as opposed to tied, tied with a normal trench
coat style tie. And then I capped or I shortened the sleeves a little bit. This one I created
so it could be worn as a dress or as a coat. Which typically a trench coat can be worn,
no matter what style it is, as a dress or as a coat. The key thing with a trench coat
since there are so many possibilities is just to experiment. If you want cinched tie at
the waist with a tie then do a tie. Say you want a tie on the side. Draw your tie and
then remember because you have it cinched you're going to need to show that the fabric
is gathered around. So use those squiggly lines I talked about. And then however long
you want it to be. And then your collar. And then sleeves and you have a trench coat.
