Who is.. the Mole?
All of us were thinking about:
We'll try to make the Mole again like it might be the best Mole season ever.
What it's like to participate on the Mole?
Obviously I have been asked this question all the time lately.
The only thing that I kept saying all the time was:
It was a very special experience.
A little nerve-racking too. Or just plain exhausting sometimes.
But I would do it again in a heart beat.
Participating on the Mole is one of the biggest adventures I ever experienced.
Definitely the biggest tv adventure I ever had.
It's like a fantastic field trip.
It's a great adventure.
It's great to experience that with people you didn't know before..
..on a location you didn't know you were heading to beforehand.
It was awesome!
Actually I mainly participated for the sake of my daughters.
They are huge fans of the show.
So when they asked me to participate I knew I couldn't come home and tell them:
No I'm not doing that.
So I did it mostly for them but I thought it was great fun too.
It's very odd not to be allowed to say something about it for such a long time.
At first, you're not allowed to tell anyone that you participated.
So you have to come up with a story for what you did instead.
Subsequently, when the new contestants have been revealed..
..you're still not allowed to say for how long you participated..
..in which episode you got the boot, or what kind of challenges you did.
So that's quite hard.
I'm quite used to keeping things a secret for my job.
Like films, a new series or something important I did that I'm not allowed to talk about yet.
So I'm used to it.
I did find it hard sometimes because I really wanted to talk about it.
Especially if you run into people connected to the Mole.
I think you can get used to not being allowed to say something.
It was a little tricky but as long as nobody knows, it's fine.
If you've thought of a good story, you don't need to worry about it.
Once people know that you participated though..
..it gets difficult because people ask about you being a participant on the Mole all the time.
If you don't mention it to anyone, nobody asks you about it either.
But once the news is out, people mainly ask:
Did you have fun?
Even answering that question I think is very revealing.
I thought I would find it hard to keep my mouth shut for a long time.
But the longer you do that, the more self-evident it gets.
So the longer it's been since we filmed the show..
..the less consciously you're thinking about it.
It's been quite easy for me, actually.
Even just the way our destination, Hong Kong, has been captured on film is innovative.
Certain effects have been used by camera men and in the editing..
..that actually give the city a real character.
In a way Hong Kong has become a player in the game too.
That's because of the way it's been captured on film.
That's not the only new thing though, as the game has a few new elements too.
For instance, there's a very special kind of exemption:.
As you can already see in the intro, a black exemption is introduced to the game.
What that means though, you'll find out for yourselves.
