Think of the person you care about the most in the world.
Now I'm being entirely serious.
Take a moment and picture the person you love the most.
It may be one of your parents;
or maybe your spouse,
or perhaps one of your children.
Once you have a person in mind continue on with the video.
Now imagine you happen to see that person
walking down a street some ways ahead of you,
and in front of them you notice a giant hole in the ground.
Now either they are daydreaming,
or on their cell phone,
or just looking somewhere else,
but they don't notice the hole and just keep on walking.
They happen past a sign that reads
"Danger ahead" without noticing it.
So what do you do,
you shout to this person.
Hey, there's a hole in front of you, look out.
But what if they don't hear you and keep walking.
Would you simply say, hey,
they should look where they are going,
they should be alert and read the signs around them,
it was their choice to walk down this street,
or they should have heard me,
let them fall in the hole.
It'll teach them a good lesson,
well if they survive.
Remember, this is the one person you care about the most in the world.
No, if I saw that person continuing to walk towards the hole,
the person I cared about the most,
I would run as fast as I could,
across the busy street,
with no regard for my own well being,
to physically stop them and ensure their safety.
But after that I wouldn't just walk away,
I would fill in the hole to ensure no one else I loved could possibly ever fall in.
If you truly love someone, you wouldn't let them suffer.
You would do everything within your power to protect them.
You wouldn't just warn them of the dangers ahead,
but would work to remove those dangers.
If it was within your power to fill in the hole,
such holes would not exist.
