Brief comparison between Sanwa OBSF-30 and OBSFS-30 "silent" buttons
Hi guys from USFC, are you OK? I'm AllanGamer again and now I'll show you
the difference between Sanwa regular buttons and the Sanwa "silent" buttons
to see if they really are more "silent" or not
This is another EVO arcade controller, my old one I sold this week and I even already sent it out
And on this new one I installed the white Sanwa silent buttons
So the white ones are silent and the colorful are regular buttons
I already installed the octagonal gate
but the optical sensor isn't installed yet Notice the micro-switches noise
let me get my glasses back as I can't see anything...
let's check the regular buttons
just smashing them so you can notice easier
Notice the noise it makes
I'm hitting them harder so the camera's microphone can capture the noise
right... now the silent buttons
silent... regular...
silent... and the regular button
silent! regular! right? notice the difference!
these 3 white buttons I'm smashing are silent
over smashing them!
now again on the regular ones realize the noise difference
now what these buttons have to make them specials? it's so simple
let me open this red one and you'll see what's inside it
I have to pry it carefully
here it is, hope you can see it there is a small piece of foam inside
I'm going to open a regular button so you can check the difference
this one is a regular button this other one is the silent button
the red is silent and white is regular let me take this foam out
they could sell only this foam, would be great
here it is guys, this is what makes the button silent: a small foam washer
I have already tried to cut a foam with this thick and shape
but didn't work, it lasts 2 weeks only and the foam got torn apart
because I can feel this foam is consistent, it doesn't rip apart easily
I think it's worth when you don't want to wake up your relatives, or whoever may be sleeping around
a quieter controller should have the optical sensor installed as well
so this micro-switch noise would be gone
let's take another look
it's a huge difference
it's not only to avoid waking up someone near your PC or console
it also helps on tournaments to avoid your opponent to guess that you are pressing buttons
and react to it, right?
I have already heard that Daigo and others top players
can react when they hear the sound of the buttons being pressed
They hear this and already know you did something and can take advantage to counter attack
and do a counter hit, anyway... you press a button, they are already
waiting you to do that and hearing the noise it helps them to catch your timing pace
with the silent buttons it won't be totally silent but can avoid this in someway
OK guys, any questions feel free to post a comment and I'll answer as quick as possible
or leave a comment on this topic on our USFC (facebook) group
and want to send a hug to guys from Portal Versus, Get Ready and SOA teams.
Hugs and great matches to all of you! See you!
