Fine sandy beach in Ebeltoft Bay,
on Djursland, Mols, in Middle Denmark
Just beyond the road going to the town, Ebeltoft
leading to and from the Mols-line ferry.
A good easy to acess sandy beach
which isn't afflicted by traffic
even though the road is 150 meters up.
A comfortably warm day in early August 2013.
We have had a period with 25 - 30 degrees Celsius
and already got the feeling
that it might easily get to warm.
So it’s a bit of a relief
that we have moved below 25 degrees.
This is one good thing about the Danish summer weather,
we avoid Mediterranean temperatures
abover 25 and 30 degrees.
Lyngsbaek Beach and Handrup Beach and Egsmark Beach
are all beaches at the bottom of Ebeltoft Bay
where we are know.
This beach is about 1 km from Ebeltoft
Parallel to the road, and is one of the beaches
with good parking.
These beaches span 4 - 5 kilometers towards Femmoeller.
Good child friendly beaches with suitably swallow water
so that nothing gets dangerous.
Protected waters where the waves rarely become big.
To get an overview of the beaches on Djursland
it's a good idea to visit one af tourist offices,
and ask for a map over the beaches on Djursland.
There are a little more than 20 freely accessible beaches,
which is always the case in Denmark by law,
and this is one of them.
Also on the north coast of Djursland, where the water is
very shallow, and it gets warm fast, and on the
east coast with Grenaa Beach, a top-rated beach
was nominated as Denmarks best beach
together with a beach on Zealand in 2006.
Also the beaches here in the Mols-land to the
south, are included.
There are many sandy beaches here, of which some are
more or less unknown,
The advantage with this area here, to the south
is it’s many bays and capes
so one can always find shelter for the wind.
So visit a tourist office and get the map
over beaches on Djursland.
In the distance is the coastline that becomes the
peninsula Helgenaes with startat Femmoeler.
On that coastline there are also a string of good beaches.
On Djursland you really have a lot to chose from
when looking for good sandy and clean beaches.
An advantage in Denmark is also,
that you never experience the 30 - 40 degrees Celcius
that one sees in the Mediteranian in summers.
Today it's a pleasant 22 - 23 degrees,
which you often get in a typical summer.
It's August 4. 2013,
and July has been a fine beach-month,
and this seems to continue in to at least
the first part of August.
So this is the stretch close to Femoeller,
at the bottom of Ebeltoft Bay close to Ebeltoft,
with good bathing.
The beach here is also officially, Blue Flag-clean water, tested.
Driving along Ebeltoft Bay one can get the feeling
that the road is very close to the beach,
but here, where I am standing now,
one can't hear the cars at all.
The road is up there in the distance, bet there is
a nice broad foreshore plus room for parking,
so no problem with traffic noise on the beach.
A view over the parking area and the beach
towards the part lying closest to Ebeltoft.
There is another beach a bit further in,
just below Vibeak Camping, more or less
in the outskirts of Ebeltoft.
Actually also a good beach, but a bit difficult
to find a place to park,
as is not the case here. Her the parking is fine,
with a beach that gives plenty of room in sheltered Ebeltoft Bay
with clean water - Blue Flag.
All along the coastline visible in the distance
there is a row of accesible beaches
so there are many possibilities here.
A cottage area with a wide range of rentals
plus Ebeltoft close by, with a lot of cultural events
throughout the summer. A cosy town with old houses.
Every noon at 12 on Saturdays
there is Free Jazz at the town square in Ebeltoft.
Often with very gifted musicians, as part of what the
town has to offer in summers.
