despite the fact that in the election the republicans lost the female vote by
historic margins underground need despite at one point gaining a little
bit after the first debate on brock obama months when the ended up doing
horribly you would imagine that in the wake of that and how many times they
were attacked
touring this electoral cycle
basin of the warn women in all the the crazy things that murdoch in a consent
amongst others
that they would try to appeal to women
they've decided to go a different way with a so uh... despite the fact that
six months ago senate democrats passed the reauthorization of the the violence
against women act that would uh... wanted in the protections include l_d_
bt women
uh... we will be legal immigrants native americans
the republicans are continuing to block it
i don't believe that it's because they're in favor of violence against
women uh... but they do seem to be slightly more in favor of violence
against hispanic women native american women out to be two women because they
don't want those protections grant to the particularly to the illegal
immigrants now i understand that probably underlying disposition is
they're worrying about the creepy and other things that will protect the legal
immigrants and maybe some day
though all the citizens or something like that
uh... but the fact that they are still willing to block this
are they just suicidal when it comes to courting female voters to the think that
women will pay attention to this
what do you probably see i think this is that yes and that example of how the
republican party is willing to hold certain things hostage in order to get
their political message across
we're seeing this stop right now with the balance against women act we're
seeing it right now with taxes on the upper-class arm and i do think that it's
also showing that the republican party even complete denial about with the
voters
of this country are you know we saw that with paul ryan i i i think it was last
week
so there was a private by the orbin
demographic coming out about which doesn't take a genius to figure out what
he means by our men and i think that and then although he does running david
lewis over the women voters by huge amounts
its peak height all of the things that's because it republicans won't support
the president's women act it's because of all of the anti-abortion out
legislation if it was such an anti contraception healthcare staff equal pay
stop it's because it all these thing
that women do not vote for then even women who may have otherwise voted
republican who might be
fiscally conservative or might agree with ronnie's position on taxes or
whatever it may be
uh... they cannot get on social issues and so because of that republicans are
losing over female voters for the democrats and i think this once again
shows that
they just said
that you just don't get it
or they just don't care and they they were really think that they can
win over the country by again trying what they tried this time which is
appealing to me
mail white upper-class demographic
and then look if you go back just off forty years ago
republicans were doing better amongst women partially because they were
keeping to themselves in the crazy things that they thought about
contraception abortion
excuse me but also because
they were able to play to women's fears about terrorism foreign wars and things
like that and see you have a lot of women
who felt like the republicans would be better when it comes to national
security now partially terrorism like with and think that people in general
sick if thinking and i think that's not one of the most important issues than
because it's been too long
yeah also because the jury on our forces in iraq we turn our forces in
afghanistan
it seems like a less pressing threatens the winner thinking about les
but also mit romney no military service when i'm looking at the republicans
might be running in the next electoral cycle not a lot of veterans amongst them
so previously burr problems be able to been able to run and try to make the
democrats seem weaker national security
but now they're looking at the next crop of republicans coming up it doesn't seem
likely that they're gonna be able to do that again but a lot of john mccain's
out there anymore in the city
runs against a sixteen when you look at that issue a warrant think what you
actually see
is that when in the car
art more or much less likely to want to go to war and voters overall
on and here we had a ronnie taking this hard-line carbonite approach on israel
yell lewd into going to war wave
online
syria and believe and so did i thinking that
women that are kind of city again for that to the so it's no longer wait what
you're talking about where you know we want
essential a sense of national security and and really strong eric's he's
talking about potentially getting i think aging more wars and be back at
work for so long but i think people are just sick of that
but my last point on this it is that while the republicans are willing to
keep shooting themselves in the but when it comes to female voters
the democrats think believe in this area are being outsmart politically about it
and they are continuing to attack other problems on it not just in ads up but
also we have a statement here by senator patty murray of of washington she says
domestic violence protections for all women shouldn't be a democratic or
republican issue
a six-month delays inexcusable
one day is inexcusable their obstruction is taking a toll on women across this
country
so in the same way
that during a filibuster you're supposed to make the other side paid for what
they're doing
been blocking this our renewal of the violence against women act
will hopefully
uh... incur some cost the republicans if the democrats are smart and continue to
use it as an issue babson
and the most important thing to do now karen that if we do not extend funding
at that the democrats ever seen the republicans and refused to extend
funding
and this is gonna reduce available resources for states to deal with her
with victims of domestic violence of this is really women's lives and how
things really are really at stake here and i think that that's a huge problem
for republicans
