Today we’re here with Greer. “Hi, I’m Greer. I’m 5 years old.”
She is going to show us how you can use stuffed animals to help you with your yoga poses.
She has three stuffed animals beside her, so we are going to do three different poses.
The first pose we’re going to do is “Cat pose” and there is our cute little kitty
cat. To do cat pose you get on your hands and knees, making a table with your body.
Move your legs just a little bit back, Greer. Perfect. That's better.
Now, as you inhale, take a big breath in and look up, up, up, all the way to the ceiling
curving your back. And then exhale round your back as much as you can pull your belly button
in, Nice. Inhale, reach for the sky again. Exhale round your back.
You're stretching just like a cat does. Inhale and give us a nice meow for a happy cat. MEOW.
Exhale, round your back and hiss like an angry cat. HISS. Very nice. Perfect cat pose.
The next pose we’re going to do is “Downward Dog.” There’s our puppy dog. Lovely. Now,
again we’re going to make a table with our body by putting our hands below our shoulders,
our knees below our hips. Move your knees back a little bit.
Perfect. Curl your toes under. Those hips go high, the head comes down. Nice. See how
see reaches her heels for the ground. She can wag her doggy tail. Nice, Greer, I love
it. And what does a doggy say? Ruff. Just one ruff? How about if you were
a big dog? RUFF! And if you were a little chihuahua? ruff. Perfect. Come on down.
We have one last pose for today. What’s our pose Greer? “Lion Pose!” This is Greer’s
favourite pose. To do lion pose you can either start cross
legged, like Greer, or you can kneel, whichever is most comfortable for you.
So, lion pose really helps to express emotions, especially to get rid of negative emotions
in kids. So, the first thing you have to do is think
of something you don't like. And then you are going to squeeze it in tight, scrunch
up your face, make a fist, and let it out with a ... ROAR!
Beautiful. Again. So squeeze it in, tight, tight, tight, tight. And ... ROAR! I can hear
you from miles away. Last time, squeeze it in, tight, tight, tight.
And let out the biggest ... ROAR! Lovely. I think you do an amazing lion pose, Greer.
So that is how stuffed animals can help kids do yoga. I hope you have enjoyed our video
today. And we’ll sign off with…”Namaste.”
