3rd Degree is an advertising agency but we do a full scope of services for our clients.
We do everything from branding, to social media, to identity design.
We'll do everything like websites, billboards, brochures, videos, television, we do the whole thing, the whole ball of wax.
The program that I was involved in at OU, which was visual communications,
was very competitive.
And it really prepared me for sort of not being hand-held in the real world.
And it also prepared me for taking criticism well,
and constructively.
When you're working in the arts rejection is part of everyday life.
And when you're working in advertising a lot of times the work that you're involved in can come under a lot of scrutiny,
and you just have to learn how to roll with it.
And learn to make it better.
So my professors really prepared me for that.
We don't always have openings at 3rd Degree, but a lot of young creatives come out OU are very interested in interning here,
and we have internships--we also always interview them and look at their portfoilios.
Just to help give them encouragement even if we can't hire them.
I would tell high school students that they might be looking for a big name school,
or they might feel like they want to go out of state,
but I think staying at OU can offer a lot of opportunities for students.
And I think you're university experience is what you make of it.
And I think there are certain fields where OU definitely excels,
but I wouldn't sell it short on areas like the arts for sure.
I think that they've come great strides, and they prepare students for real life coming out of OU.
