I'm here today to dissolve all mystery.
To answer the question
That I get asked more than any other.
"How" the world cries out, "do you do your hair?!"
I've done it like this every day for about six years.
I've dont it a variety of different ways over that time, but,
I've got so used to doing it now that
It has become easier. It wasn't easy to start with.
and there was a lot of... perfecting techniques
It helps that I've already got very thick hair.
If you don't...
You might want to try using a volumising... mousse,
shampoos, conditioners, other products,
to maybe get a bit more "oomph".
I'll show you what I do to my hair every day. I'll also show you
How to get it down again afterwards. Before I do anything...
I can't really see the camera and I can't really see
The mirror either. So for this I'm going to wear my glasses.
This is basically what my hair looks like when it's out.
It's VERY thick. And just...
Floofy. I realised many years ago
That there wasn't much a could do with it. So I rolled with it.
And made it bigger.
So, tools! For this you will need: a brush
A fine-toothed comb
Bobby pins
A mirror for seeing the back of your head
Possibly some of these? And for products...
An anti-frizz serum
Hair gel
Hair wax. And hair spray
Most importantly. You may also find a use for
A dryer. I've been battling
frizzy hair forever. Which is why
I think anti-frizz serum is the best thing ever. This is
Garnier's 'Sleek & Shine' serum. I rate it.
It's great. It's really nice to find a product that actually does what it says
on the label.
So first, some of that, rub it around.
Everywhere. And - no more frizz!
Next part's a bit strange. Oh, actually yes,
A hair tie. This part admittedly looks a bit funny.
I separate my bangs at the front
And to keep them separate,
I tie them under my chin with the tie.
Yes it looks strange. I don't care.
Next step is...
Hair gel. I like to use a wet-look gel
but that's just my preference.
Be careful not to use too much gel because it will
make your hair too heavy, and it won't stand up.
Rub that in. Pay attention to the roots in particular.
Next up, hair wax. This is one from Taft.
As with every product, get the strongest hold one possible.
A blob of that about...yae. Rub it over your hands.
OK.
Any building needs a good foundation, so let's start backcombing.
Take a section of hair
Start at the roots
and brush towards your head
And go outwards towards the tips.
Like that, but with more feeling.
And start underneath.
Starting to take shape kinda. Next use the comb.
Do the same sort of thing.
Focus on the roots, and sort of...
If you can see...
Backcomb tightly
Pack it against your scalp as much as you can.
Well, within reason.
Sorry if it's a bit hard to see.
Repeat that all over.
Use a mirror to check how the shape's going.
Oh dear.
Good. Now I can probably take this out.
Next. Most important imgredient of all. HAIRSPRAY.
A really big can.
I go through A LOT of hairspray.
Get the strongest hold you can find. 5/5.
And you know, preferably find one that smells nice.
The you want to stick in some bobby pins.
So it'll stay in the shape you want it to.
Just around the front
I don't put any at the back of my head.
Pull it up in sections
and pin it in place.
Yeah so just kind of...
Play with it. And comb it and...
Muck around with it until it looks like you want it to.
I just had to run off
to go hair spray a lot in
a better ventilated room. You know, be sensible.
A lot of hairspray. You want A LOT of it.
How much can I emphasise this?
Usually I straighten the bangs at the front. But I've decided to stop doing that for now.
So. Putting a bit more of
that wonderful serum in. You can use argan oil too
I think it's the secret ingredient for the anti-frizzness.
So I think that's
OK.
I often put more wet-look gel in
To create more of a... tendrilly kind of thing.
I don't feel like I need that at the moment,
So I'm not going to. Now...
Just as important as knowing how to put your hair up
Is how to take it down again. You want to start by
brushing it out while it's dry.
The trick to getting backcombing out is to kind of...
Is do the opposite. I said before to start at he roots and move towards
the tips,
You want to start brushing your hair out
The normal way, but start brushing out from the tips
And move towards the roots. Do that all over.
That's the way. If you do this often,
you will get extremely good at detangling knots.
Also, this is your friend.
Garnier 'Silky Secret' hair detangled
It's really good, I like it very much.
After that, shampoo and condition.
As usual. I'm just using this Garnier
Pure Volume shampoo. Also, you want a lot
of conditioner. It's good, it's important,
This is a very large bottle.
This is a Garnier conditioner. Can you tell I like Garnier?
Well, if you do do this, let me know how you get on.
I'd be interested. Hope this has been useful!
Byeeee!
