Hello Internet; and this is the RockerFox and I'm here to give you something new. Well,
maybe its been done; because you seen plenty of readings but, this is a new segment that
will be featured on my channel every Tuesday; A Reading with Rocker. Now every Tuesday I
shall read either a short story, a poem, or a fable; and I will just read it for you listening
pleasure. Maybe you'll get something from it, maybe not. But all I can hope is that
you enjoy and click either the subscribe button or the like button. Today's story is a fable
called "The Wolves and the Raccoon"; and it goes a little something like this. One summer
morning, a raccoon went foraging for food. After he'd gathered all he needed, he started
for home but was stopped by a fearsome wolf. "Give me all your food or I'll eat you myself!"
the wolf exclaimed. The raccoon was very afraid but was very crafty.
"This is all I've gathered but if you find me tomorrow I'll give you double of what I
have every day for a week"; the raccoon deviously promised. The wolf accepted his offer and
the two went on their ways. Further down the road the Raccoon was stopped by a different
wolf who demanded the same. The fiendish raccoon promised this wolf the same offering he gave
the other, and the wolf accepted, so two went on their ways. The next day the raccoon gathered
quadruple his bounty and ate half of it. "This way"; he thought, "The two wolves will
kill each other for the food and I will go free". Further on he met the two wolves and
told them about only gathering double his usual haul and the wolves had to fight to
obtain it. But the wolves were wiser and saw through the raccoon's treachery.
"We know you tried to satisfy both me and my brother, but you decided to be deceitful
and for your punishment I will eat the food and my brother shall eat you" the alpha of
the two proclaimed. The raccoon tried to smooth talk the wolves out of eating him but they
knew him as a liar and wouldn't listen, so they ate him and his food. Before the wolf
devoured him he said; "Those who seek to please everybody; pleases
nobody". Although the raccoon did satisfy the wolf's hunger; just not as he expected.
Yes, it is a fairly dark story but, it still has a moral and a meaning nonetheless anyway;
thank you for listening this has been "A Reading with Rocker"; and I shall see you all next
week.
