Hello, my name is Jeremy Fields. I'm a gastroenterologist and hepatologist. I joined McFarland Clinic
in 2012. My speciality is Gastroenterology and Hepatology. I have a special interest
in endoscopic ultrasound and deep enteroscopy. I first did my residency in Internal Medicine
and found that I really enjoy taking care of the patients with GI and liver problems.
"Hi, I'm Dr. Fields." "Hello." The typical patient visit starts with an introduction
and you telling us why you've come to see us. We provide a number of services. Probably
the most common reason people come to see us is for a screening colonoscopy, for a colo-***
cancer screening so that we can find any pre-cancerous polyps before they turn into cancer and take
them off. Patients who come to us have problems with chronic abdominal pain, constipation,
diarrhea, difficulty swallowing. These are the kinds of things that we see in the clinic.
The thing I find most rewarding about my job is cancer prevention. It's nice, you know,
I have days when I do mostly screening colonoscopies and go in and take out polyps before they
turn into anything bad. My mom had a colon cancer found early on a screening colonoscopy,
and so I find particular gratification I guess in taking these things out before they do
anything bad.
