When you get here and you say "oh I've got four years to make a name for myself" or "I've
got four years to accomplish all these different things" and you realize that that time is
really, really short. The second I stepped on campus, I felt like there was just enough
to do without feeling like you know just another number or just another student so it was big
enough, but it's also very homey at the same time. Ever since I've been here that has just
been exemplified and amplified in a way that I never could have imagined. The best part
of being a Southern Miss student is probably the connection you get with you professors,
because, especially my department political science, their doors quite literally are always
open. It doesn't matter what the problem might be, whether it pertains to your degree or
not, you can always go in and find someone to talk to who is genuinely invested in what
issues you are facing, what problems you might bring to the table and that's something that
I whole heartedly appreciate and an experience that I don't think you could get anywhere
else, I won't say anywhere, but it's something that is very unique to Southern Miss.
