So, this teaches us that the city's architecture,
as well as its infrastructure,
is very important to the way the city functions.
A city like New York or Hong Kong,
with good infrastructure,
where there is a kind of architecture
that mainly condenses the population and allows for people
to do lots of things by foot,
while creating an efficient way to utilize energy.
All that is very important,
and we are very interested in it because of its great impact
on people's well-being, which is what matters in the economy.

And this exaggerated and low density expansion,
with decreasing densities,
might be one of the causes for the urban violence
which we suffer from since a few decades.
The point now

into the hands of the people who actually need it
in order to build their house.
All effervescence, all exchanges are very important,
and the international exchange becomes even more powerful.
The world order has changed.
Countries like Brazil, China, India and South Africa
are the countries where cities are growing the most,
where cities face their most radical challenges.
We came to the spotlight as makers of great architecture
in the 1960's and 1970's,
and spent the last decades being stagnant,
for financial or political reasons, it doesn't matter.
So it is absolutely beneficial
that we have an exchange of this kind again.
It's transforming people's lives through
a kind of architecture
that revolutionizes the way they view public spaces.
It's about bringing people back into the public space,
feeling like the city is still the stage where culture happens.
I think this is the role of architecture in the 21st century.
