THIBAULT : Explain me why you want to craft the Kaidan's armor
PHILIPPE : I'm a fan of the game
PHILIPPE : And I've not the level to craft an alien, but I like this human.
PHILIPPE : I like the character and he corresponds to me.
PHILIPPE : I like to create Cosplay especially when I hope to look like the character
PHILIPPE : And, as my best friend, Leon, would like to make Shepard...
PHILIPPE : We are often in tandem, so I will embody Kaidan.
SHENZI : Have you cellofresh? I say cellofresh but it's cellophane... Anyway... we need plastic wrap...
SHENZI : You take it and you wrap yourself in the plastic. Around your neck, your hips, your arms etc...
SHENZI : and you cut thin strips of tape. Approximately, ten centimeters
SHENZI : then you paste, all around, like that.
SHENZI : you should really do with little stripes of tape.
PHILIPPE : ok... it's to measure?
SHENZI : Yes, it's to measure to have your pattern
SHENZI : What I do too, I never begin a piece on plastazote, I prefer to buy foam ground mats low cost
PHILIPPE : Three it's enough?
SHENZI : Maybe, I think. It depends on the parts. Some are easy. For example, the shoulder pads fit on A4 paper.
SHENZI : you must draw a bit more big on the side because you must take into consideration the thickness of the foam
SHENZI : If you use only the thick foam, you will look like a coke can!
SHENZI : However, you will must to do a "crash test". you can to assume and directly go to convention with your suit.
SHENZI : But I preconize to you to wear your costume at home, befor convention, do sport and move with it for to know weakness and defects.
SHENZI : We are four.. So if everybody wants to work on the suit...
SHENZI : And you, you don't just film!
PHILIPPE: Here, we have test on the cheap foam. And we have try to put the piece on my leg and all is good.
PHILIPPE: So, now we know, with this test, than we have a good ratio. I redraw on paper. It will be the final version.
PHILIPPE: And after, I will transfer on the plastazote foam because I know than proportions are good.
THIBAULT: How are you? You learn well?
PHILIPPE: Thoroughly!
PHILIPPE: Yes, in fact, materials are too expensive. It's better when you begin to search and inquire yourself...
PHILIPPE: and speak with experienced people... to avoid to lose money. You learn with other's mistakes.
PHILIPPE: They can advise and prevent you to do same mistakes and waste your materials.
PHILIPPE: When you see, all this foam cost 120€ (160$/100£)...
SHENZI: Mistakes are what makes the learning expensive. But we must to go through that ...
PHILIPPE: When you have the chance to have someone who can advise you, you must take advantage.
THIBAULT: If someone wants to begin Cosplay and haven't people to help him?
PHILIPPE: In this case, they must to go on the web, follow tutorials...
SHENZI: There are many tutorials on the web. There are differents methods, différents ways and ideas.
SHENZI: Some people use resin and pepakura... others works with worbla, or with foam...
SHENZI: You must test few methods for see wich one you like the most.
SHENZI: But yes, when you begin and haven't people to help you and have just internet, you're obliged to make some mistakes and expend a bit more...
SHENZI: Because that, some people are discouraged to continue and persevere.
SHENZI:But when you know where you go and you know materials and products, you save money.
SHENZI: However... you want make more and more again... Finally you still have a big budget!
SHENZI: you pay attention to your spending to have more pleasure on the cosplay, it's a choice...
