Get out of here. Magic carpets become a reality, a messenger bag I’m loving, I learned to
hoola hoop, seriously it’s a techy thing. I’m Cali Lewis, welcome to Geek Beat TV
number 308.
This episode of Geek Beat TV is brought to you by Jack Threads.
Well, if you didn’t jump on the band wagon and pre-order your iPhone 4S already, when
you do, it will be delayed. You can still pre-order them but it will be shipping in
one to two weeks. Mine will be arriving on time, as long as the shipping goes smoothly
this time around, and I’ll have a video for you on Friday to show you how it works.
If you have any specific questions about it, email me questions@geekbeat.tv and I’ll
try to answer them on Friday.
I’ve been using a laptop bag that I love lately, it’s called the Power Bag and it’s
made by Ful. Ful is well known for their quality bags and this doesn’t disappoint. While
I was in Jamaica, my co-host John P. reported this review.
I want to give you guys a walk through of this new bag produced by Ful called the Power
Bag. This is the Messenger, they also make a full on back pack, but we are not going
to look at that one because we’ve already done a review on that. I’m going to show
you the messenger bag which is what Cali and I have been carrying around, we actually took
it with us to Germany, we took it with us to Indianapolis, so I’ve had a lot of time
and experience with this thing. I just want to walk you through some of the basic features
because it’s got some very interesting stuff that you won’t find in other bags. First
of all, it’s got this nice little clasp on the front and it’s actually kind of spring
loaded if you will, it’s got elastic, so we’ll unlatch that, open it up. You’re
going to notice that the documentation that comes with this bag says it will hold, in
some cases it says a 15 inch, sometimes it says a 16 inch but actually I’ve got a 17
inch Mac Book Pro in here, so you can at least get a 17 inch Mac Book, I know some other
IBM or like PC based laptops are a little thicker, they might not go in if they are
17 but at least you can get one of those in here. Also, you’re going to notice a pocket
specifically for tablets. So I’ve got my Samsung Galaxy tab and most conspicuously,
my cable is plugged in, the charging cable. What’s it plugged into? Well, if we take
a look down inside the bag, and I’ll take some of my junk out of the bag here because
it holds lots of good stuff, there is actually a battery compartment inside with a 6000 milliamp
battery plugged into it. Now, let’s compare that, the tab has a 4000 milliamp battery
so a normal cell phone might have a 1500 milliamp battery. What happens is, they give you inside
of each of these little pockets a different charging cable. Here’s one for the iPod,
over here we’ve got my cell phone plugged in, it can either plug in with a micro USB
or a mini USB.
See the full video or written review at geekbeat.tv/messenger and they are offering you guys a discount
on the bag, it’s only for two weeks but all the details are on the website. As always,
they haven’t paid for the review and we’re not getting anything from the discount so
I’m just passing the information along.
My first experience with the concept of the magic carpet was when I was watching Aladdin
when I was a kid. Noah Jafferis a student at Princeton has been able to create something
pretty close, a flying, a flying piece of, a flying piece of plastic. So perhaps not
as comfortable to sit on, but we’ll get there. It uses electrical waves to force air
along its body, trapping air between it and the ground. It moves at 1 centimeter per second
so it won’t be breaking any speeding laws just yet.
Some friends of mine over at Dallas Makers Space have created a techy hoola hoop, apparently
they are hoops that have LED lights in them, but this one, the DigiHoop has a chip in it
and is actually programmable. Take a look.
Every DigiHoop is backed by a 12 month, no hassle repair or replacement warranty. Our
hoop features professional grade RGB LED’s, no rattle construction, solid and rugged HDPE
tubing. The DigiHoop uses rechargeable lithium polymer batteries that power the hoop for
over six hours. They can be charged from any USB port.
Digihoop was designed from the beginning to be upgradable and customized to meet your
needs
It’s a Kickstarter project and it ends the week. You can find all the details and full
video at geekbeat.tv/digihoop
I was thinking that if I were going to hoola hoop professionally, I’d definitely want
the right clothes, cool clothes you know. And I certainly wouldn’t want to pay too
much so Jack Threads are perfect for getting brands like, Hurley and Stussy and Kidrobot
for 80% off. It’s invite only, just go to jackthreads.com/geekbeat to start saving money.
Alright, you know the awesome video we released recently about the MagnePulls, that remains
one of our favorite things we found at the ?? Expo and they’ve just given us 5 of them
to give away to you. Five, head on over to geekbeat.tv/giveaways, that page always has
the latest information on whatever giveaway we are giving at the time and believe me we
do a lot of giveaways, that’s because we really appreciate you guys, that you watch,
that you participate and that you tell your friends. Thank you for that.
I’m out of here, we have a viewer meetup in San Diego on Wednesday, I hope you’ll
join us. I’m Cali Lewis, good bye.
