My name is Rachel Jag and I am a junior at Mizzou and I am very excited and
very proud for my teacher Doctor Horner for receiving the Kemper Award.
He definitely deserved it and I think out of of any
political science professor I've ever encountered, not only at the university level
but even back in high school, I think he's very deserving.
I think everyone here on campus, if they've heard the name they know him as one of the best teachers on campus
everyone's had him for American Government. You know, everyone sees him walking around
in his cool Hawaiian t-shirts.
Dr. Horner has always wanted to challenge his students, but to point to keep them
interested. I've had
several courses here at the university and
you know he doesn't try to feed it to you, he doesn't try to feed it to
students and
just to give it to them on a power point or just to kind of hand feed them
what they need to be learning.
He kind of exposes us to
anything and everything that he knows.
It pushed me to learn more and more about it because every time I came to
class, he was always excited about what we were going talk about that day and it wasn't
something that just rubbed off on me, I'm pretty sure it rubbed off on the rest the class as well.
He's one of those
father figures, like, in the school in, like, the university that I, just, I'm so
glad I've got to meet and it's just so wonderful how much he cares for all the
students and he cares about our future.
