Today we will prepare urad dal masala badi.
Urad dal masal badi can be easily brought from the market and can also be prepared easily at home.
Let us see what ingredients are required.
Urad dal- 1 cup (soaked in water for 4-5 hrs) (urad chilka dal (black matpe spilt with skin) can also be used.
rinse the dal thoroughly until it’s spilt without skin.
Red chilly- 2
Black pepper- 8-10
Heeng (asafoetida) - 1 pinch
Saunf (fennel)-1 tbsp
Dhaniya (coriander) - 1 tbsp (ungrinned)
To make urad dal masala badi, we will grind the species and urad dal coarsely.
Place the dal in the jar of mixture grinder and without adding water into the dal we will grind the dal.
If required we can add 1-2 tbsp water into it.
Grind the dal coarsely and take it out in a bowl.
Now, grind the species saunf (fennel), dhaniya (coriander), red pepper and black pepper coarsely.
Dal and species are ready; now mix the species into dal. Add 1-2
tsp of water into the heeng, stir it well and mix it with dal.
Now beat the dal rigorsly for 5-6 minutes to make it fluffy and add 3-4 tsp
water so that it becomes little thin. Dal is ready and looking fluffy.
Now we will make badiya out of the dal.
Take a plate and grease it with little oil. Take dal in
hand place it on plate according to the size you desire.
Break badiya of equal size only.
Badiya are ready, now we will dry them.
The best time to prepare badiya is of May and June because the sunlight in these months is maximum.
It takes 2 days to dry the badiya well.
On first day prepare them around 11 in the morning so that they can be dried evenly in the entire day and
can be turned upside down and for the second day they are dried in the sunlight from morning to evening.
It takes complete 2 days to dry these badiya properly.
We will now place the badiya in the sunlight.
Urad dal masala badi is ready and now they can be stored in a container.
Urad dal masala badi can be consumed for 8-9 months.
So whenever you have to prepare vegetable use
these stored badi and prepare your vegetable.
